Kasargod, Oct 15: In a tragic incident that is reported from Kidur near here, under the limits of Kumbla police station a boy lost his life after he got drowned in a rivulet.
Melwyn D'Souza (14), only son of Marcel D'Souza and Metilda couple, residents of Dandegoli is the unfortunate victim of this tragedy. This incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, October 13, when Melwyn along with his two friends got down in the Shiriya Bajpe Uluvaru rivulet to have bath.
Locals, fire service personnel, police and fishermen searched for the body of Melwyn and could locate the same at late night near a rivulet near Kumbla.
The family members of Melwin got concerned as he did not return from taking bath till evening of Saturday, though he had gone with his friends in the afternoon. When they enquired with his friends, the incident came to light. Then the search operation was started to find Melwyn's body. Around 12.30 am in the midnight the fishermen brought the dead body up from the rivulet.
The mortal remains were handed over to the family members after conducting the post mortem at the Kasargod general hospital. His funeral was held on Sunday, October 14 at Mother of Sorrows church, Bela.
Melwyn was a ninth standard student of Sheni Shri Sharadamba School.
