Udupi: Are there no rights for devotees in democracy, asks Pejawar Swamiji

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB/MS)

Udupi, Oct 14: "I am concerned at the same time not happy when I came to know about the fast protest of Shri Vidyaprasannatheertha Swamiji of Shri Samputa Narasimhaswamy Math. As the Sharada Pooja is going to begin within four days, I have to be here only. Once the Navaratri celebrations are over I will go to Subramanya and speak to all the concerned and try to resove the issue. So I request the Samput Math Sree to call off his fast at present. It is not right on the part of the Kukke Subramanya temple to have stopped the water supply and public address system deliberately of the Math," said senior seer of Pejawar Math, Shri Vishweshateertha Swamiji. He was speaking at the press conference on the background of the protest fast undertaken from Saturday, October 13 by the seer of the Subramanya Math.

Pejawar Sree further said, "It is upto the devotees as to where they want to offer 'Sarpasanskara'. They can do it anywhere. Devotees have not been pressurized by the math. The harassment of the administration committee of Kukke Subramanya temple meted out to the seer of Samputa math in this regard and also the activities against the math are not right. We also have compassion on the Swamiji. We also support his movement. Both the temple and Math are religious centers. They should have cordial relations between them,"

"No damage is done to the society by the Math. They are not anti-social. If any pooja including Sarpasanskara pooja and Nagapratishte are conducted at both the places it will be convenient to the devotees. The administration committee of the temple has to extend its co-operation to the Math. Both temple and math have to work together and propagate the faith."

"Devotees who cannot come to the temple will go to the math. Is there at least this much of independence in democracy?" questioned the Pejawar Swamiji.

"The Navaratri celebrations will be over on October 18. There should be no conflict between the math and temple. If there is any indifference, I will go personally and speak to both. No one should face discomfort. From two years this issue is going on. If the injustice is done to the temple, we will resolve it. Government or politics should not enter in this matter. We do not oppose any government. The administrative committee of the math also should convince the seer to give up the fast protest. All the temples and Ashta Maths of the coastal districts will support the math," said Pejawar Sree.

When questioned on naming the disciple to the Shiroor Math, the Pejawar Sree replied 'It is upto the Dwndva math of Sode to look into this. We are on the lookout for a suitable disciple who is able, educated and having good knowledge of Vedas."

Replying to the query of allowing women in Sabarimala temple, the seer said, "I do not have any objection in that regard. Women go to other temples also. Different temples follow different traditions. In this regard, the temple priests of Sabarimala, devotees and court is there. We will not interfere."

Since India is Caught Up between Tradition and Modernity , everything is a conflict these days.
Religion ,Morals, Ethics, Traditions, Nationalism is all linked to constantly fluctuating economic well being of the citizens.
When Religious Organizations are overwhelmed by the unaccounted income they generate, corruption and conflicts are bound to happen.

How many Swamijis are inside Pejavar Swamiji? Whenever he speaks, instead of 'me' he uses 'we'.
keeping it aside, I feel Pejawar Swamiji is very confused ..in all matters. He does not have a clear idea on any issues. He has opinions on all temples, but when it comes to Shabarimale, he out of it. One year he conducts Ifthar, next year he drops it. Recently, we can feel the ambiguity when he talks about building Sriram Temple in Ayodhya.
In Subrahmanya, if the temple has rights, it will stop the distribution of water to anyone. Mutt should arrange for its own water resource like a borewell or so. And it is not right from the Mutt's part to conduct Poojas which from long long time was performed in the Adisthan of the temple.

Swamiji You are in different perception ! politics already taken religion as granted but the court is working on facts ! However ! religion and its rituals build on beliefs and there is no question of any facts which is attached with human feelings and there is no arguments at all ! so the court should spare the RELIGION from its territory which is better for both parties !

According to BJP's book of NRC in India there are migrants who are Indians by birth and citizens who are still migrants. So, in this situation rights for devotees in democracy is questionable.
