Mangaluru: Student washed away at Panambur beach, body found at Hosabettu

Mangaluru, Oct 14: Sudharaj (18), a student from Beltangady, who was swimming in the Panambur beach in the city got disappeared after he was dragged into the sea by high waves. 

The incident occured on Saturday, October 13. The body was later found on Sunday, October 14 at Hosabettu beach. 

Sudharaj, who was studying in second year degree in Melanthabettu government degree college in Beltangady had come to the Panambur beach in the city on Saturday along with his friends to spend the weekend. They were playing the game of Kabaddi by the beach side and did not pay heed to the warnings given by the beach guards not to venture into the sea. Though the beach protection personnel try to save Sudharaj as he was getting drowned, he could not be saved as the waves were very turbulent.

Sudharaj was the last among the three children of agriculturist Keshava Poojary and Baby couple, residents of Kaje, Nyayatarpu village in Beltangady taluk. His brother is studying in a private college in Beltangady and his sister is working in a private company in the city.

Panambur police visited the spot and conducted the verifications and registered a case in this regard.

    Strict measures have to be followed to stop this kind of tragedy.

    Rest in peace dear Sudharaj. I am really surprised that even after warning by the beach protection personnel why these people violated and took the risk?

    Probably the young age makes them to behave in such a fashion. A big loss to his parents and siblings.
