Udupi: 67 prisoners shifted back to Hiriyadka sub-jail

Udupi, Oct 13: In view of the fact that repairs to the district sub-jail at Hiriyadka here has been completed, 67 inmates of the jail who were kept in Karwar prison pending repairs, were shifted back under tight security on Friday October 12. This shifting had been permitted by the department of prisons.

Police personnel from Karwar and Udupi district armed reserve police force monitored the shifting process. The prisoners reached the sub-jail on Friday evening.

A total of 91 inmates of the jail had been shifted from here on January 20, 2018 to facilitate repairs. Jail superintendent, Sanjay, said that the remaining accused currently lodged in the prison at Mangaluru would be brought here within two to three days.
