Mangaluru: Gang inflicts Injuries on Thirthahalli-based student

Mangaluru, Oct 13: A gang of four unidentified assailants inflicted injuries on a Thirthahalli-based student in his neck and shoulder with a razor. This incident happened at Someshwara beach on the evening of Friday October 12.

The victim of the attack was Shreyas Shetty (25), a native of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district. He has been a student of a fire and safety department of a private college at Pumpwell here. Currently he resides at the home of his grandmother at Bolar in the city.

It is learnt that Shreyas was pursuing a diploma course at Chitradurga which he abandoned midway and joined for a course in the city. He had come in contact with a girl student when in Chitradurga, and continued to have contact with her after he changed his college. It is said that when he called the girl over phone on Thursday night, an unidentified person spoke to him, and posed threats. This infuriated Shreyas after which the two exchanged strong words at the end of which the person said he would teach Shreyas a lesson. During the conversation, Shreyas had revealed that he was in Mangaluru.

Some unknown persons hadcalled Shreyas over phone and invited him to meet them at Someshwara here. Shreyas reportedly went there with friends, Johnson, Hariprasad, and two others. Five persons were waiting for the arrival of Shreyas there. One among them suddenly inflicted injuries on Shreyas in the neck and shoulder with a razor before all of them fled.

Injured Shreyas stands admitted into a private hospital at Thokkottu. Ullal police have registered a case.
