Dammam: MASA celebrates 12th Talents’ Day in splendour

Dammam, Oct 4: Tiny tots, future twinkling stars of Mangalore association of Saudi Arabia (MASA) and the dwindling ones submerged the Crystal Hall in Dammam, on September 28 with their splendor display of talent, flooded with an exhibition of mesmerizing acts of sheer flair, a grandeur evening to remember the 12th Talents’ Day of MASA.

‘Come to the stage and show your talents’ is the call given by Mangalore Association of Saudi Arabia to its members on fantabulous Talents’ Day. Young and old enthusiastically participated in various activities such as dance, fancy dress and singing. MASA has been organising Talents’ Day for their members since its inception and has provided a good platform for bringing out the talents within them; some participants have even reached international level competitions.

The grand event kicked off with the traditional ceremonial way; lighting the ritualistic lamp by president, excom and advisory committee members. Entertainment committee head Dayanand Chowta welcomed the members and guests.



President Sadashiv Poojary while addressing the gathering thanked all the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment in exhibiting their talents. He appreciated the parents for encouraging their children to keep the spirit of talents day alive. He also welcomed and thanked various sponsors being the backbone of the event by contributing generously.

Chief Judge Viraj Shetty, briefed members and participants about the judging criteria and urged audience to greet & encourage all participants to come up with scintillating performance. Judges were introduced by Ravi Karkera, Mohammed Nooman and Naveen Bhandary.

There were about 63 events registered by contestants from different age groups. During the competitions, lots of amazing talent with new concept, creativity and classic acts were observed in singing, fancy dress and dance categories. Audience could not believe their own eyes and witnessed a quality display of variety of amazing talent. Judges had a tough time in selecting the best among the best.

MASA Committee, volunteers and the participants ensured that the event was organized professionally and entertaining to the viewers. The main objective behind MASA Talents Day competition is to create a platform and build up the confidence level and positive atmosphere among the participating members (kids, teens and adults). Every competitor presented a stunning performance and enthralled the audience and in return the audience gave thundering applause.

The event was powered by Joey Fernandes (M/S Artland Transport Co) and Sadashiv Poojary (M/S Intermodal Services of SA and supported by Yogeesh Poojary (SASP) and Madhav Amin (MMA).

Judges for the event were Naveen Shetty, Sunitha Khalid, Ajith Kunder and Kanti Yashwanth for dance competition, and Joey Fernandes, Sadiqa Wahid, Sunil Puthran and Joann Fernandes for fancy dress competition. Roshan S Kotian, Sarita P Aranha, Manjula Jitesh Kottara and Priti Jagdish Salian were the judges for singing competition.

Anchors for the event were Mohammed Nooman, Rekha Shetty, Sujaya Karkera, Sumitra Kadekar, Narendra Shetty, Shakib Ahmed and Victor Sequeira.

A raffle draw comprising of five attractive prizes was also conducted by Puttaraju and team. The efforts of young children were appreciated with gift for their excellent marketing skill of raffle tickets among the audience.

A gathering of around 500 members and guests enjoyed the evening filled with stunning and exciting entertainment. During the event, as a part of MASA’s tradition, the parents of members on visit from India were welcomed to the stage and felicitated.

Joint secretary Sathish Bajal rendered the vote of thanks, and winners were awarded with attractive trophies. Participants under 18 years were presented with medals. Award ceremony was conducted by Ravi Karkera, Naveen Bhandary, Mohammed Nooman and Viraj Shetty.

Guest Doctors Dr Shailendranath Bekal and Dr Arfath Mustafa from Dammam Healthcare Polyclinic were honored with bouquet of flowers.

The event concluded with the Indian National Anthem. The splendid evening ended with memorable note and indeed it was a thrilling, exciting and rejoicing evening for MASA members and guests. In the concluding remarks, president Sadashiv Poojary invited the gathering for upcoming event MASA Food Festival 2018 which is scheduled on October 26.
