Bengaluru: Quarrel over ten rupees costs techie his life

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 12: An employee of a cyber cafe here murdered a software engineer on silly pretext. The accused, identified as Karthik, has been arrested by the personnel of Girinagar station in the city.

The man who was killed in this incident was Guruprashanth (31), residing behind Muneshwara temple, Girinagar here.

Guruprashanth lived with wife, Mamata, father, Hanumantharayappa, and mother, Siddagangamma, in Girinagar. He was employed with Wipro Ltd, Bellandur here. At 8.30 pm on September 6, he had visited a cyber cafe near his home to take a print out of his resume. He asked Karthik, who was in cyber cafe, to take out colour print out of his resume found in his e-mail.

Kartik, instead of taking colour print out, got black and white print out and demanded ten rupees. Guruprashanth questioned him about same rate being charged for black and white and colour prints at which Karthik used abusive words, it is said. When the techie held Karthik's collar, he picked up a screw driver nearby and forcibly inserted it inside from near Guruprashanth’s left ear.

The techie collapsed on the spot, lost consciousness and bled profusely. The people immediately admitted him into Radhakrishna Hospital nearby. The doctors found that he had slipped into coma as the screw driver had pierced his brain. At the doctor’s advice, he was taken to BGS Hospital, but he breathed his last on Tuesday September 11.

On Tuesday itself, the techie's wife gave birth to a baby boy. On the basis of complaint made by Siddaraju, relative of Guruprashanth, the Girinagar police registered murder case on Tuesday and arrested the accused.

Why not this crime is going like this.... For cheating i'e. in black ink instead of colour and asking the same money of color one caught another's collar. For catching collar another inserted screw driver in his ear apparently he died. Now for inserting screw driver and killing the first one kill the second one also and close the case by tomorrow. Do one, 10000 will get scared and the crimes will down to 0% for sure.

Techies need saftety training on Anger control . Emotional intelligence, dealing with conflict etc
I whenever encounter such silly issues instead of RS 10 pay RS 20 and go .These cyber cafe employees are very poor people getting salary of just RS 5 to 7000 per month

You wrote like a prescription. For a doctor instead of 10, 20 is nothing. But for others it is not a joke.
At the same time do anyone work for Rs 5 per month in this world! Even in Somalia?. Dr. before pressing submit make a habit of read once.

The techies in Bangalore show too much of attitude.Espcially if they are working in Infosys or wirpro, they think that they have come down from heaven, and with out them nothing works.Similar attitude might have lead victim to fight with the staffer and catch coller.
Also , nowadays most of the youngsters are under the influence of drugs or ganja every where.. Hence one must keep away from argument for silly reasons especially with low class people who have nothing to lose and the other party may lose everything including life.

I totally agree with you despite the fact that many of them have disagreed with your comment. Being living in blore for years I have noticed the same behaviour from many outsiders that they act too much. Let's be practical, don't fight over silly issues, here locals react too badly for silly reason/ mistakes. I think it's better to avoid them and move on. 1-2 years back local had killed a Techie guy who was with female friend for 500rs when he refused to pay the damage caused in accident. Please for the people who are new to Bangalore don't react for silly issues.

Orally quarrelling is desirable but loosing control over one,s mind, the techie manhandled the Xerox shop worker, or owner as per your news. Self defence is one,s fundamental right.

Businessmen who provide services think that they can do anything. Even assault a customer. There electronic repairers who cheat the customers left, right and centre. In Mangalore the cable operators at present do collect the months charge in full and do not provide service, some channels or programs are missing. No one complains fearing for their lives the cable operators are usually run by goons. RIP Guruprashanth

Very sad. Also catching caller of a poor Cyber cafe worker for just 10 rupees also a silly thing. Techie may be earning up to one lac or more, but respect other peoples job whatever it is. Who knows how he was treating fellow workers who works under him. His arrogance to catch calls tells the real color.
