Mangaluru: Missing Bengali student - hopes shattered, parents return home

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 7: The parents of Abhijith Dey, a student of West Bengal who went missing from Kulur, while on his way to Manipal to get admitted into a college recently, have returned to their native place empty-handed after failing to trace their son. They had come to the city along with their son with the dreams of their son's bright future in their eyes. Unfortunately, Abhijith Dey suddenly went missing at Kulur and could not be traced till now.

Abhijith, a B Com graduate, had desired to pursue his M Com degree at Manipal. He had reached the city on July 25. His father Deb Kumar, and mother arrived here on July 27. Abhijith was waiting for them at the airport here when they reached. On the way to Manipal, the trio had travelled by a taxi.

The taxi was stopped at Kulur here by the family for tea. By the time the parents had tea and came back to the taxi, Abhijith had gone missing mysteriously. Abhijith's brother, Debjith, came here on the next day, as Abhijith could not be found after lot of search.

Debjith, along with his parents and police personnel of Kavoor station, went to various places in search of Abhijith and made enquiries, but their agonizing efforts went in vain. The parents finally left the city on August 4 for Bengaluru for returning to Kolkata from there.

Should not have happened so in Mangalore. His parents and relatives will carry a bad opinion about Mangalore. Wish he joins his parents at the earliest.

Anand, no.. Why his parents will have bad opinion about Mangalore. It is his fault leaving his parents in the hotel and disappear. He should not have put his parents in such a traumatic condition.
Definitely he had a cell with him. If he got misplaced he should have called his parents and inform locals. Our Mangalorean locals, auto drivers are always helpful at any time regarding such matters. Feel sad for his parents.
