New Dell EMC data protection solution to secure mid-size Indian firms

New Delhi, Jul 12 (IANS): To help secure mid-size organisations in India, Dell EMC on Thursday launched a cheaper new data protection solution that will offer converged data protection-back-up, shorter back-up time, disaster recovery and long-term retention to the Cloud.

In India, enterprise-class products come with higher cost and complexity while lower-cost products sacrifice performance, efficiency and application support.

Dell EMC, a part of Dell Technologies, has built "IDPA DP4400" solution from the ground up as a simple yet powerful solution featuring enterprise-class capabilities for backup, deduplication, replication and recovery, the company said in a statement.

"With the launch of IDPA DP4400, a large number of mid-size organisations in India will have access to a comprehensive data protection solution," said Ripu Bajwa, Director and General Manager - Data Protection Solutions, India, Dell EMC.

The new solution delivers lowest cost to protect, with up to two times shorter backup times and protects up to four times more data.

It grows in place from 24-96TB and up to 192TB in the Cloud with no additional hardware.

"The solution offers benefits such as complete data protection in a single appliance, protection storage and server, protection software, IDPA System Manager, search, reporting and analytics as well as advanced application integration, at the lowest cost," Bajwa added.

According to Phil Goodwin, Research Director, Storage Systems and Software, IDC, organisations today, especially mid-size ones, are faced with increased complexity.

"With the IDPA DP4400, Dell EMC is targeting a large swath of enterprises in that middle tier that want an all-in-one solution that is affordable, easy-to-use and has the modern data protection features," Goodwin said.
