Bantwal, Jul 12: A team of officials led by the tahasildar of the taluk, Purandara Hegde, raided a house at Kelaginapete here on Tuesday July 11, after getting reliable information that without prior permission of the government, registration was going on there for the issuance of Adhar cards. During the raid, equipments which are used in registration for Adhar card were found there. These items were confiscated by the team.

The house concerned belongs to a party leader. During the raid by the team, it was found that an Adhar registration centre was functional at the spot. A laptop, a printer, a scanner, an eye scan, a biometric system, a digital camera, and a GPS system were seized from the spot, officials stated.

The officials during the scrutiny found that 19 registrations were done at the centre on Wednesday and 75 on Tuesday. Although the man concerned claimed that he holds permission to register for Adhar cards within Kadaba panchayat limits, during the raid, no such records were made available, said tahasildar, Purander Hegde.

A case against the person concerned was filed in the town police station here. The tahasildar said that he has asked the officials to take appropriate legal steps against the erring persons.

In addition to the head of the raiding team, tahasildar Purander Hegde, revenue inspector from here, Naveen Benjanapadavu, Seetharam Kammaje of taluk administration, taluk panchayat staff, Vishu Kumar, village accountant, Raju Lamani, and other personnel of the office were in the raiding party.

What is actually illegal here or not? I can't understand!. If they are issuing Legal Aadhar cards, then surely UIDAI has given him access! How can anyone access UIDAI to provide Aadhar cards when they are saying it's having top class security!?

My questions are to the Government, and not who the Government allows to assist it.

If the Government allows Krishna Math to assist it, for example, look at the number of citizens who will benefit.

As for BD/VHP/SENE or the current "party leader", I do not know if they have approached the Government to provide some/any services to the citizens.

It is entirely based on the contract between the Government and the organisation. The common citizens will benefit by such arrangements (provided violence is not part of the service).

PS: The Government is already using a private organisation to provide lunch at schools (but the Government pays for it).

What is harm in that if he is issuing legally acceptable Aadhar cards? The problem is if he does`t have the authorization from the concerned department.

I do not know what "party" this leader belonged to.

However, the developed world allows private players to provide many Government services - as it males the life of the citizens easier.
Various NGOs, church groups, and social organisations assist the Governments to carry out their tasks.

But in India, the poor citizens have to queue up, sometimes overnight, to get basic services completed by babus.
Many babus do not even speak the mother-tongue of the poor service-seekers.

What exactly is wrong if a "party" leader volunteered to help the poor locals to register their Aadhar card applications?

At this rate, India will take another 300 years to reach the "developed" status.
