Mangaluru, Jun 14: Muslims in the coastal region of Karnataka will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday June 14.

The crescent moon was sighted in Kerala late evening on Thursday June 14, after which Qazi of Mangaluru Twaka Ahmed Musliyar announced that the festival would be celebrated on Friday in the city.

Announcement about Eid celebration on Friday was also made by P M Ibrahim Musliyar, Qazi of Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan.

The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadan, during which Muslims around the world fast every day from dawn to dusk.

Special Eid prayers are offered in congregation on the morning of the festival at Idgah and other mosques.

The crescent moon marking the end of Ramazan month heralding the new month of Shawwal has also been sighted in the UAE, reports said.

Inconvenience to children who follow Islamic faith. If they don't go, it will be a day of absence and loss anyway if they forget all festivities and decide to go.

For others, holiday on Saturday is better because they will get tow days' continuous holiday.

    Eid Mubaarak.
