Puttur: Attacking, injuring auto driver at Mardhala - two held

Puttur, May 16: Relating to the murderous attack on Umesh (30), an auto rickshaw driver from Kenya in Aittoor village with a machete, who operated in Mardhala area, which left him gravely injured, the Kadaba police have arrested two persons.

The arrested persons happen to be Kusumavathi (38), wife of Chandrahas Gowda from Sulliakadu in Aittoor village and Subrahmanya (24), son of Chennakeshava Poojary from Nedle village in Beltangady taluk. They were taken into custody from Puduvettu near Dharmasthala on Tuesday and produced in court. They were remanded to two weeks judicial custody.

Main accused in the case, identified as Kiran from Shishila is absconding.

It is said that Umesh was moving in his auto rickshaw from Kadaba to Mardhala when the three accused who came in a Maruti Alto vehicle intercepted him near Bajinadi Cross, Nekkithadka. When Umesh abandoned his three-wheeler and ran away, the trio reportedly chased him and lef him seriously injured with a sharp weapon near the Dargah at Nekkitadka. He is under treatment in a hospital now.
