Davangere: Police arrest Congress corporator, parade him in public, video goes viral

Davangere, May 13: A video of a local Congress corporator being arrested and paraded in the public for allegedly assaulting a BJP worker during elections has viral on social media.

Congress corporator Srinivas had allegedly created nuisance at KTG Nagar and assaulting a BJP worker during the elections for the Karnataka assembly on May 12.

Former minister and BJP leader S A Ravindranath had filed a complaint against Srinivas in KTG Nagar police station in this regard.

Based on the complaint, the police on Sunday May 13 arrested Srinivas, handcuffed him and paraded him on the roads holding his collar.

A local who was at the spot recorded the incident on his mobile phone and soon the video went viral in social media, drawing criticism from people especially the Congress supporters.

    I am not interested in any political parties but when the law and order is lost in my state of karnataka and particularly in mangalore I feel disturbed and annoyed just because mangalore was a land of peace and love and kind towards every citizens who lived there. It is sad to see mangalore and karnataka is in such high risk of law and order situations. Civil servant must be trained to respect it's society first and the society will change and become more responsive citizens. Look at west every citizens has their role to safeguard it's citizens

    I think Police have never heard of giving respect and handle persons,whoever it is.Time that their SP .give them a lecture agin and dismiss them.Best is corporater should file a case against Police of their behavier towards him.They must have thought at last they got one opfer to show their muscles.

    Dear Amith, you are absolutely correct. Karnataka will be worse than any other states if bjp comes to power. You judge bjp very well. Goondaism/loot/rape/murder is the culture of bjp and this what is being followed up in other states and same will be in karnataka also. If bjp is back to power karnataka, people of the state will be like hitting on their own heads and legs.

    This is will be routine if BJP come to power in Karnataka just like Uttar Pradesh were opposition members are encountered.

    If it is Sangh Parivar member or BJP leader by know police station is gheraoed and law enforcement officers will be transferred.

    No matter who is the accuse the law enforcement officer must follow their own protocol. It does show that how much 'saffronisation' in the law enforcement is happened.

    I hope you do realise that Siddaramiah is still the Chief Minister of Karnataka and Congress is still in power in the state.

    The police constabulary in a Congress governed state arrests a Congress worker and you want to blame BJP for this??? What logic are you applying? No doubt that you would call all Modi backers as blind bhakts. But what have you become in your hatred for Modi / BJP. Aren’t you equally blind in the same category?

    What next? Should Nawaz Sharif now blame Modi for his candid admission on Pakistan’s role in Mumbai attacks?

    police job is to arrest but not to parade him in public. I really donot understand the role of police in India. They should protect the public rather parade or create more issues with the society. Kind of scary. Politics, public servant become a dominance dictatorship rather public services towards society. It is very disturbing and hurts to see poor people has to suffer at the hands of politicians, police, govt servants etc.
