Mumbai: Meeting of Kannadigas held at Billavara Bhavan

Mumbai, Mar 26: “The Karnataka Bhavan constructed by Karnataka government at Vashi should serve all Kannadigas and their programmes,” said senior advocate, organizer, former president of Kannada Sahitya parishat, Maharashtra unit H B L Rao.

He was speaking after chairing a meeting held at Billavara Bhavan, Santacruz east on Saturday evening March 24.

Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian, Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palethady, honorary chief secretary Rons Bantwal, Patrakartara Bhavan committee president Dr Shiva Moodigere, Karnataka Janapada Parishat Maharashtra unit president Suresh Shetty Yeyyadi, Bhavani Foundation Navi Mumbai executive committee member Pandith Navinchandra R Sanil, author Prabhaker Beluvayi, S K Sunder and others were present.



Chandrashekar Palethady said there is confusion regarding the beneficiaries of the Bhavan built at a cost of more than Rs 40 crore managed by Mysore Sales International Limited, an undertaking of Karnataka state government. “Every Kannadiga living in Mumbai, organizations from Karnataka in Mumbai, Karnataka community leaders in Mumbai, office bearers of such organizations and leaders should support our efforts to find clarity of the beneficiaries,” he said. “Let us at least unite now and try to benefit from the bhavan,” said journalist Rons Bantwal.

Dr Shiva Moodigere suggested to hold a meeting with MSIL organization managing director before deciding further course of action. Those at the meeting concluded that the bhavan should be available to all the Kannadigas for their programmes.
