Hyderabad, Feb 14: The song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' in which internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier is seen doing the famous wink, has supposedly hurt the sentiments of Muslim community.

A group of Muslim youth from Hyderabad on Wednesday filed a complaint at Falaknuma Police Station saying that when the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' from the film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ when translated into English, insults the Prophet.

The complaint filed by Muqeeth Khan alleges that the lyrics are hurtful and they have nothing against the actress.

The song garnered million views just two days after its release. Composed by Shaan Rahman, the video brings back the nostalgia of high school romance.

Priya’s expressions and smile which supposedly melted hearts was the main reason for the popularity.

Director of the movie Omar Lulu said that it is a typical love song being sung by people from all communities in the film. There is no question of removing it from the film as there is nothing against religion, he asserts.

Read the English translation of the lyrics of the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' below:

A woman like the pearl flower
Her highness Khadeja Beebi
In the holy city of Macca
She lived like a Queen

A woman like the pearl flower
Her highness Khadeja Beebi
In the holy city of Macca
She lived like a Queen

Asked Khathimun Nabi
Sent as in charge of trade
At the first sight of him
She desired him

After completing the expedition
Blessed Rasulullah came back
To marry the Prophet
was the Bibi desire

A woman like the pearl flower
Her highness Khadeja Beebi
In the holy city of Macca
She lived like a Queen
