Doha: ACC beat Hanan XII, retain CDC Trophy

Doha, Feb 12: In the finals of the 1st Division of the 29th CDC cricket tournament 2018, Asian Cricket Club (ACC) again defeated Hanan XII by two wickets to lift the winners’ trophy.

Last year also, ACC had defeated Hanan XII in the 28th 29th CDC cricket tournament 2018.

Winning the toss, Hanan XII opted to bat. They had a decent start from their openers Saif and Gyan. They posted 53 runs in the first 5 overs. Saif (15 runs) was the first batsman out, with a brilliant catch taken by Tanveer off the bowling of Bilal. Soon after, other opener Gyan (18 runs) was dismissed by Sameer. Remaining top order batsmen of Hanan XII kept the momentum and took the score to 109 for 3 by the end of 10 overs. Later they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and lost the momentum by the 18th over. It was Hamid, who made a quickfire 58 with help of 8 sixes and helped Hanan XII to post a decent total of 192 for 10 at the end of 20 overs.



For ACC, Sarfaraz took 3 wickets giving 18 runs, Mannu took 2 wickets for 27 runs, Sameer and Bilal claimed a wicket each.

In reply, ACC too had a decent start and scored 35 runs in the first 3 overs. Abrar was the first batsman out for 9. The other opener Feroz was the second man out after scoring 19 runs. Bilal and Imran took the score up to 99/4 in 10 overs. There after ACC lost the momentum for few overs and lost wicket s at regular intervals. It was Adnan with help of Bilal who were responsible for ACC to lift the champion’s title. Adnan remained not out scoring 58 runs off 27 deliveries with 6 sixes and 2 fours. Bilal made 38 runs with 4 sixes. ACC reached the target in 19.5 overs.

For Hanan XII, Parvez and Gyan took two wickets each.

The ‘man of the finals’ was Adnan of ACC.

Farooq of CRCC Warriors was adjudged ‘best batsman’ and Mannu of ACC the ‘best bowler’. Imran of Hanan XII was declared the ‘best allrounder’ and Sameer of Hanan XII, the ‘best wicket keeper’.

Construction Development Co (CDC) has the distinction of being the oldest and most supportive sponsor of the Qatar Veteran’s cricket league since the start of the league in 1988.

At the prize distribution ceremony, the chief guest was Sanjiv Jain, business development manager of Construction Development Co (CDC).

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
