Mangaluru: Atrocities on youth - SP orders suspension of two police personnel

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 3: In view of inhuman behaviour exhibited with a couple from different religions, one of whom was said to be a movie actor, during their visit to Subrahmanya police station recently, Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP), Sudheer Kumar Reddy, has suspended two police personnel of that station.

The suspended officials have been identified as Prashanth Kumar and Sandhya Kumari.

A lady who identified herself as a movie actor, was found roaming around with a youth belonging to a religion other than her own in Subrahmanya on December 20. Allegedly, some activists of a Hindu organization had, in an act of moral policing, harassed them.

After the information about the couple, Subrahmanya police had brought the couple to the station for questioning. Video footage allegedly showing the lady making a statement about inhuman way they were treated by the police had become viral.

During the questioning, the lady admitted that she had left her home without informing family members. It is said that during the visit by the lady's male companion to the police station on December 21, the staff behaved with him in an indecent manner. The lady was sent away thereafter with her father, and the young man, in the company of his uncle.

The police department, in the meantime, is continuing with the investigation into the incident.

Being away from Mangalore for the past several months I have not had the opportunity to meet the S.P. Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

However I called him a few days to wish him a long and happy tenure in Mangalore. It appears that he has taken to his duties most efficiently not sparing his own staff.

As long as Amars Akbars Anthonys of DK keep fighting ,shakuni's (fringe elements)will be charged up and they will rule.No police or no State or central can't 100% solve this.We have to participate to eliminate. But we are busy in seeing which brand(religion) he is and pass comment.Didn't we live together in 1990s 2000era did any one get into conversion or married other castes. If yes also why sucha big hues and cries as if there is no oxygen.

Real problem is go to somalia ,Haiti ,these fringe groups should be dropped there. Then they ll have good detox of their soul

Wow they have been suspended!!! For how many hours they have been suspended. They should have been terminated from the Police force for them to join the Hindutva gang. If the victim had been from Hindutva groups they would have burnt down the police station by now. What double standards we have in India.
