Bengaluru: Married woman among several molested at Brigade Road by revelers

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 2: A man said that his wife, who is 23, was among several women who were groped and molested by a crowd of men at the stroke of 12 am on January 1 at Brigade Road in the city. The 25-year-old said that for himself and his wife, who got married a few months back and set up home at Indiranagar here, this, was their first ever visit to Brigade Road, which forms part of posh M G Road locality.

The man said that he and his wife reached Brigade Road seconds away from the dawn of the New Year. "There were a number of couples in the area around us. Unexpectedly, a group of men suddenly jumped on women and began to grope them. Many were also seen trying to pull down the clothes worn in the lower parts of their bodies including trousers. One could see these men moving their hands all over the bodies of the women," he explained.

The man said that there was lack of female security staff there to handle this situation. He said that the men repeated their ugly act again when the couples reached M G Road. He complained that the policemen on duty did nothing but becoming silent spectators to what was happening in front of their eyes, and in fact, they tried to push him aside as he fought the aggressors. He claimed that he appeared to be the only one who fought off the offenders and that the police did not pay heed to his explanations as they kept pushing him away.

"My wife is still in shock. I am prepared to file a police complaint but my parents do not want me to do so. We belong to middle class family and we want to lead a normal life," he said.

But state home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, when contacted by media persons, maintained that nothing of the sort had happened and that he has not received any such reports.

The man who narrated this ordeal is working as project manager for a firm here. He says that the nightmare was so bad that he has now decided to make it a point to advise each one of his friends and close ones never to go to M G Road area for New Year celebrations.

Police Dept. can definitely verify the genuineness of the incident, from the recordings which could be retrieved from 100s of CCTV cameras installed at Brigade Road.

There should be Zero-tolerance towards such incidents, which would send across the right message to the rowdy elements in society, as well as safeguard the image of the Bengaluru Police.

Firstly , these couples should not have ventured at this time of the night, Knowing the situation in Blore, The fragile , law and order system. Inefficeint and useless cops. One look at the news papers and its clearly evident , what Blore is, when it comes to law. So many rapes even on minors and no arrests , no FIR. Lankesh murderers are yet to be arrested , its 4 months now. That itself gives a clear picture. Siddu & team will get away from this episode as well by blaming RSS, BJP and will keep the suspense till election time.

let's not make a big hungama here. Irrespective Ugadi, New year, Christmas.... let's see it in 2 directions. Frist thing, yes, Govt and police should have control over such places and events, and should ensure security to common public. But unfortunately law and order has gone for Toss in Karnataka.

When Leaders are famous for murders and killings, it's obvious. but another way of looking at is, why the hell you ended up in mid of such a mob ? thousand of families, couples, celebrated in a descent way.... with out getting in to such troubles. So, if you are not able to safeguard your wife, don't get in to such challenges, ending up at Brigade / MG Road on such occasions. Mob is drunk and they don't know what they are doing and you will not be able to control them or teach them decency at that moment and situation. That's why, never take such risks.
Nobody you can blame , not govt, not police , not the mob... none , than you yourself who put your wife in such a embarrassing and risky situation....

All too much of western influence. It is expected when we have CM like Siddu and Mulayam Singh. One should avoid such areas where Siddu police become silent spectators. We should have CM like Yogi Adityanath who can keep everything under control. Here chief of the police has to be questioned.
