St Philomena College Puttur celebrated annual athletic meet

Puttur, Dec 21: The department of Physical Education of St Philomena College organized ‘Annual Athletic Meet 2017-18’ on Thursday, December 21.

The alumnus and the former captain of Mangalore University Kabaddi team Praveenchandra Alva inaugurated the meet by releasing the balloons and declared the athletic meet open.

MLA of Puttur constituency and Parliamentary secretary to chief minister government of Karnataka Shakunthala T Shetty participated as the chief guest.



Campus director and chairman of PG Studies Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and the principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo participated as guests of honour.

Correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the programme.

The programme began with an impressive March Past by 22 teams. The students of second year BCA won the first prize, the students of second year BSc won the second prize and the students of first year BCom won the third prize.

On this occasion, a text book on ‘Financial Accounting-II’ of second semester BCom of Mangalore University, authored by Prof Maxim Carl, HoD of Commerce was released by the guests.

The members of Performing Arts sang the prayer song. Principal Prof Leo Noronha welcomed the gathering. Physical education instructor Prakash D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. Physical education instructor Sowmyalatha K coordinated the programme. The assistant professor Dimple Fernandes compered the programme.

In the valedictory programme, campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and the Principal Prof Leo Noronha honoured the champions of the tournament.
