Bantwal: One dies, two seriously injured, when stoking gas stove

Bantwal, Dec 7: Three persons had suffered serious burn injuries after flames suddenly erupted when a newly brought LPG cylinder was fitted and gas stove was stoked, on November 25. Out of the three, a critically injured senior citizen succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday December 6 in a hospital here, without responding to treatments.

The deceased has been identified as Ramayya Shetty (68), resident of Kalayiguthu, Karopady. His wife, Jayanthi Shetty, and auto rickshaw driver, Ramesh, who was helping the couple to fit the LPG cylinder which had been brought in his auto rickshaw, had suffered serious injuries along with Ramayya in this incident.

Ramayya Shetty is survived by wife,  two sons and two daughters. A case about this unnatural death was registered in Vittal police station.

Auto rickshaw driver, Ramesh, had joined family members in fitting the new LPG cylinder brought home in his auto rickshaw. When the new cylinder was fitted and gas stove was put on, fire suddenly spread, injuring three persons instantly.

    There is one small black colour rubber washer in every cylinder. After fixing regulator and turning regulator to on position, if you notice sound of gas leak or smell lpg, please disconnect regulator and replace washer. There are you tube videos on this ..
