Bengaluru: Congress party’s election war room leading social media battle against BJP

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Dec 7: In the plush Vasanthnagar locality, the Congress party has set up a ‘war room’ to plan strategies and take on the BJP in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.

The term war-room was coined by a team of political strategists in the United States who worked for Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign in the early 1990s. Ever since, war rooms have become a regular fixture in election campaigns.

The corporate-style war room is set up on the lines of the one headed by actor-turned-politician Ramya at the national level. Well equipped with wall mounted television sets, recorders and rows of laptops, a team of 30 young professionals who are extremely tech savvy are planning the content dissemination and the party’s poll campaign.

Ramya

This room will be the cockpit where the party will frame the poll campaign narrative and counter attacks against BJP leaders. Currently the team is focusing on a social media battle with the BJP.

Since its inception in August, the team is responsible for the #BariOluModi, #BariSulluYeddyurappa (a pun identical to Yeddyurappa's abbreviation BSY) and #ConstitutionNammaDharma campaigns, which has helped the party gain traction. Now, a concerted #BJPUgraAgenda campaign is on to target Mysore-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha. The campaigns are planned in coordination with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's in-house social media team.

Software Professional Srivatsa Y B who is heading the state Congress' digital team said that the party has taken a stand to not push fake news as part of its social media campaigns. Also, in each of the 55,000 booths, we are appointing a youngster who can handle digital assets, he said.

Sources reveal that the party is planning a full-fledged campaign management team in the days to come.

Congress had a war room in place in 2009, headed by former union minister Jayaram Ramesh. However, in the 2013 Assembly and 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party was irregular in its campaign effort. The war room will help in organised, focused content generation and research, giving the party a better edge in the elections.

Santhu,I think you never been out of udupi and mumbai. In Dubai Indian companies employ pakistani's and Pakistani's employ Indians, Indian politicians visit Pakistan and Pakistani's visit India. India do export to pakistan and do import from them. lot of interstate marriages happens as well as thousands of relatives live cross-border. majority pakistani's love and respect India and a lot Indians love pakistani people. I heard from my colleagues that the northern part of Pakistan is very scenic and beautiful and I would have loved to visit as I have visited a lot of countries across glob as a tourist but looking at our diplomatic relations refrained from the visit. what Ramya has said we find good and bad pople in both country and she said there are good people and bad people and I don't think it was wrong on her part after looking at how we are improving hatred against each other in this twin district.

Without your knowledge, you are in fact very much promoting Pak by creating Pak Likes and dislikes within India. Your language of division is a boost to the enemies, which means logically you openly influence enemy actions . Speak high on unity in diversity, which can derail all enemy actions. Don't speak such lies and help the enemy in disguise.

Naman ,what Saihu is writing is true. I was in the middle East for 10 years and there I found out that when we are outside India we all work together and eat together irrespective of our religion or nationality. There we come to know about how we and them (Pakistani) are brought up in our countries groomed to hate each other based on history and that there are good people on both sides overwhelmingly... if you have friends working in middle East please do ask them. The only time we are on opposite sides is during Indo Pak cricket match..

Its a big doubt if this lady will be re-elected from her constituency again. She won last time due to her filmi followers who were star struck. However its long gone. So whats the war room gonna do? Throw jibes at Chaiwaala day in day out and look like fools. ? When the state leadership does not have answers to
    1. daily deaths due to road conditions in Blore
    2. Law and order system
    3. Unresolved Murder cases. Lankesh murderers are still at large
    4. corrupt leaders arrested with black money,
    5. Bhagyas to a certain community,
    6. Pilgrimage expenses of foregin trip to a certain community
    Com eon, Grow up,,,,

BJP has lost the plot long back when they lost the Rajya Sabha Seat to Ahmed Patil.

They have to now pack their bags by 2019 if they are still there.

You can fool some of the people some of the time.....BUT.............................................

BJP is nervous because national mandate seems to be falling apart, to make things worse
Congress seems to be performing better under do or die situation !!
SO for both parties it's do or die situation and it is good for democracy and for the nation.
    No scope for complacency !!!

The way congress is planning strategy against BJP, the same way if they have planned for upcoming of Karnataka 4 years back people would vote to Congress even in 2018. Waste people only for power they spend people’s money and never see for development of people.

All the parties are the same. Nobody will spend from their own pocket. Its all people's money.More than development work they are only bothered about being in power. This is what happens in both central and state every time.
