Belagavi: Police arrest 17 persons for stone pelting incident

Belagavi, Dec 4 : The Market here police arrested 17 persons in connection with the stone pelting incidents reported at Kamat Galli here on the night of Sunday, December 3. 

Tension prevailed in the city on Monday after a group of miscreants hurled stones at a pandal at Alavanagalli in Shahapur police station limits on Sunday night. 

Little later, the miscreants also had vandalised an auto rickshaw at Kamat Galli. 


BJP workers protesting

Following the incidents, the city police heightened the security at sensitive areas in the city on Monday. 

A group of BJP workers, led by former MLA Abhay Patil, laid a siege to Shahapur police station on Monday morning, demanding action against the miscreants, who were involved in stone pelting incident at Alavanagalli. 

The violence-hit areas are limping back to normalcy on Monday.
