Kundapur: Will join BJP once technical issues are resolved, says Halady Srinivas Shetty

Kundapur, Nov 11: "In order to join any political party, an independent legislator has to wait for six months after the elections are over. Otherwise, his candidature becomes null and void. Once these technical issues are resolved, I will join BJP," said Halady Srinivas Shetty, MLA of Kundapur constituency.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday November 11, he said, "I am joining BJP as per the opinion of my supporters. This does not mean that I am a ticket aspirant. I will be obedient to the decision of the party and work like a disciplined party worker. Though I got elected as an independent candidate, I have worked for BJP in the recently held elections for zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat, Legislative Assembly and the Rajya Sabha. I have never asked for any post earlier also. However, I was offered the position of minister and later denied, which insulted me. On the advice of my well wishers I resigned. Even though I was pressurized not to resign, my decision was firm.

"There is no setback in the development of my constituency even though I got elected as an independent candidate. Bridge between Kodi and Anagalli is constructed. Fishing jetty is built at Kodi, Kodikanyana and Hangarakatte. Public works department has released a grant of Rs 160 crore. Mini vidhana Soudha is in operation. 18 crores have been sanctioned to the constituency under 'natural calamity relief'. Fundamental infrastructure is provided for all first-grade colleges. I have raised the issue of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and Kasturirangan report and had an elaborate discussion in the assembly. Have repeatedly requested the authorities not to trouble the public."

When the legislator was questioned on his photo on the 'Parivartana Yatra' banner of BJP, he replied, "I have been invited for the yatra. I had requested them not to put my photo, However, my well-wishers have done this. I will go to the yatra conference as a general spectator and will not sit on the dais.

"Meaningless news is being circulated in social media. I have nothing to say to people who have the habit of writing anything when they see an empty wall. There should be some foundation of truth to news. People should not be made to guess. It has been 23 years since I have spoken to Pratapchandra Shetty. I have a good opinion of him. I do not engage in group politics. I do not know anything about this and do not want to comment on the subject also. I have not asked ticket with BJP for the next election. Even if the party does not give a ticket, I will work for the candidate of party's choice," he added.

no doubt he is a wonderful popular leader. But everything has an expiry day. great leaders have lost elections. super stars lost their stardom . If he wins in a ruling party & become a minister its worth it. other way round disaster. Independent not worth it. decide either one party . i want him to become a minister, from there on move forward. wishing him the best.

Halady Sir, when you have the ability to win the election as an Independent Candidate, what has made you to join the BJP? You could have served your constituency independently and even better without any High Command's control! It is your Greed to become Minister, which was denied last time, so that your name also written in millionairess book , that is the only Technical Reason! BUT your dream of becoming minister will remain as DREAM because "BESHARAM JANARA PARTY" will not win!!!! GOD LUCK!!!!!

That means you are a "right person in a wrong party". There is a saying someone will fall in the well they saw during the day. Keep going Srinivas Shettare. Sometime people take more time to realize the truth. Example Swamiji tells Cow is animal and no more God or Gomatha.

Mr. Halady Srinivas Shetty is the self made man in politics. In the last election he has won as an independent due to difference popped up with BJP due to ministerial post.
No one know what is the under table deal with BJP. But going back to BJP he has lost his credibility.
He must go independent and use his victory as bargaining tool ministerial post follow by its own.
As far as Congress it don't it need to reinvent some able leader this time for tough fight.

One thing I want to say about Halady Srinivas Shetty is the guts he is having in contesting as a Independent and winning a election. I assure you all that no Politician in Undivided Coastal Karnataka has the guts or capacity to win as Independent Candidate. Also Shetty if you see when you compare others he is a very simple man with minimum Luxury ,If you compare to other MLA/MP who has there assets increasing year after year. Moreover he is approachable and reachable and he is well known by the masses in his Constituency. Many of our readers will say I'm a BJP supporter etc which I'm not.

but... Halady himself agrees, he performed well even though he was independent MLA. That means, Kongi Govt had not stopped his MLA grants and sincerely supported him.

still, don't understand why is he much interested in rejoining Bharatiya Jirale Party

Sir, you are saying that, you don't expect MLA ticket from BJP, then, you can stay away from politics instead of supporting haters & looters, who ditched you for gaining votes from particular caste!
