Kalburgi: Railway engine travels without driver for 13 km

Daijiworld Media Network - Kalburgi (MS)

Kalburgi, Nov 9: The scene that can only be seen on silver screen became a reality as a locomotive engine travelled sans driver for 13 kilometres at Wadi railway station of Kalburgi district on Wednesday, Nov 8. Railway staff had a horrid time as they had to chase the engine on the bike and bring the same under control.

As per the daily routine, Chennai-Mumbai mail train had arrived on platform no 4 of Wadi railway station at 3 30 pm. This train travels on an electrical engine from Chennai to Wadi and then on diesel engine from Wadi to Solapur. Accordingly, the driver of the train separated the electrical engine from the main train and parked it on another track a little distance away. The driver of the said train attached the diesel engine to the train and the train proceeded to Mumbai.

As the driver of the said train did not apply the brakes properly on the electrical engine, it started moving on its own. As soon as the railway personnel who became aware of this incident, they informed the next station to close the signal to avert any danger of this engine colliding with oncoming trains on the same track. Subsequently, the staff chased the engine on road that runs parallel to the railway tracks. Finally, the locomotive pilot could board the engine as its speed got reduced at Nalwar station and bring the same under control.

A case is registered in this connection at Wadi police station.

It is a wonder that noone injured ,or some ghastly accidents happened.Since it is man made mistake ,can happen everywhere ,or anybody.Good that they realized early enough to avoid further problems.Driver must have out of too many joining and attaching,or exchange work ,simply forgot to put brake.Thank God he didnt come under wheels by this selfmoving engine.Forgive him.Ne will never forget in future.

    (1) Our Metro ? You seem to be only one Indian got citizenship or, you don't consider yourself Indian.

    (2) Dubai Metro line does not come across road or human crossing anywhere in its journey. The trains are computer programmed to stop at specific distance where a station comes. They do not have Orange/red/green signals at all that require them stopping.

Some of our Indian they think Indian and talk Indian and support Indian if it is wrong also. That is the reason Corrupt, rapist or criminal escapes from Indian rule and public. If one criminal or corrupt is caught than that corrupt will compare other Indian was more corrupt than me and people will support him. Please don't support wrongdoing. If the metro in other countries made like that why can't Indian Government can do????? If 1000 cores sanctioned for metro..... only they may spend 50 cores and rest will go to politicians, contractor, or other parties. How 1000 cores work will be completed in 50 cores??? India is more corrupt than other places. so our work is below average???

No one thank God for not happening any unwanted accident. or no one appreciating the person took initiative to chase the Engine & succeeded to stop it.

Useless jobless people sitting at home comments always bringing politics in it.

Then how India will improve with such mentality. First you change then whole India will change.
