Mangaluru: New TV news channel 'Digvijay 24X7' launched

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (AM)

Mangaluru, Apr 5: A new televsion news channel 'Digvijay 24X7' from the well-known VRL Group was launched on April 4. The channel will be available on all DTH and cable networks from April 5.

The channel under the leadership of Dr Vijay Sankeshwar was launched at the group's Kannada newspaper Vijaya Vani's office at Bengre Kulur.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Dharmapalanatha Swamiji of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math said, "Media plays an important role for the establishment of a healthy society. I hope 'Digvijay 24X7' contributes in the growth of the society and comes out as a winner."

"Society and feelings today are contaminated. Human beings have neither patience nor peace. In this situation, the contribution of media is very important. They should telecast things which give peace to people's minds. Dr Sankeshwar's decision to start a channel is praiseworthy."

Ramakrishna Math president Shri Swami Jithkamanandaji said, "While schools teaches us about positive and negative things, media puts positive and negative thoughts into ones minds. 'Digvijay 24X7' should telecast postive things for all humans to watch. Let this channel bring good thoughts and unity among people."

J R Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru South constituency said, "Vijaya Vani is popular due to its fresh news and content. People agree and believe what is published on Vijaya Vani. Let the channel also do the same. If this channel shows fresh and true content, it will live long."

Earlier, Vijaya Vani Mangaluru bureau chief Surendra S Wahgle welcomed the gathering. Sub-editor Balamuralikrishna delivered the vote of thanks. Senior correspondent P B Harish Rai compered the programme.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Shanthram Shetty, MUDA chairman Suresh Ballal and others were present.

Congratulations to the new TV news channel "Digvijay" that has been recently launched in Mangalore. What a great news to read from a distance. Having the distinct recollections of Mangalore when we were born while there was no electricity and no running water, it is a fascinating feewling to know that we have one more additional TV news channel now available. Benefits from the media is important for the growing population of Mangalore. We have a strong body of intellectual community in Mangalore, and yet we still have an uneducated population that also need the benefit from the media, which will keep us abreast with all the daily events that take place in and around us. Media is in itself an education for all those who are educated and also those who are not educated. The active media benefit will help us all to move forward in our society by seeking each one's opinion and knowledge.

We are therefore confident that "Digvijay" will help the community to grow and prosper with the benefit of the 24x7 media coverage in Mangalore. If there is an open slot available on the media any time, we would also like to visit the facility and share our perspective on the active and healthy media that benefits the world at large, from our experiences in the Western world.

Let us always remember, the World at large thinks India as a most progressive country because of our democratic as well as secular values. Let us therefore make "Digvijay" a vibrant means of communicating with the people thru the best of news coverage, and we wish them all best of success in all their endeavors.
