Mangaluru, Jul 13: Dr Frederick D'Souza, bishop emeritus of Jhansi passed away on Tuesday, July 12.
Dr Frederick D’Souza was 81.
Dr Frederick, who was the son of late Sebastian and Monte Mary D'Souza, hailed from Siddakatte near Bantwal.
Bishop’s other four brothers Fr Anthony D'Souza (Mangalore), Fr Charles D'Souza (Sri Lanka), Fr Dominic D'Souza (Sri Lanka) and Fr George D'Souza (Ajmer) were priests and three sisters Sr Benedicta, Sr Ethelburgha and Sr Hilda were nuns.
Dr Frederick was ordained priest on 1 January 1961 and was ordained bishop of Jhansi on 25 April 1977. He retired as bishop in 2012.
Funeral will be held on Friday, July 15 at St Jude's Shrine, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
