Mangaluru: Sangeetha Rajeev casts musical spell in live concert

Mangaluru, Aug 15: Noted singer Sangeetha Rajeev and Team Sarvasva enthralled music lovers in the city with an electrifying concert on the eve of Independence Day on Friday August 14, at City Centre Mall.

The event was organized by City Centre in association with Fashion ABCD.

A playback singer, composer and among the most sought-after performer in India, Sangeetha Rajeev is a leading figure in South Indian films. She is popularly known for the song ‘Thinbeda Kami’ from the movie 'Lucia'.

Sangeetha is the key vocalist of Sarvasva Kannada Rock Band, of which the other members are Sudhakar, Abhishek, Roshan, Adil, Vijay and Bharath. She has won various awards for her melodious songs, including the Best Playback Singer Award 2014 (at Kannada International Music Awards), Confident Star Singer award (at Asianet Suvarna) and Radio City Super Singer Award.

She started her initial training in Indian classical music at the age of 3. She was a software engineer but quit her job in London for the love of music. She is trained in Carnatic, Hindustani classical and western music, and has sung in various languages such as in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and Rajasthani. She has recorded an album with African musicians in hip hop genre. Apart from this, she has also sung many jingles for radio and television.

As a voiceover artist, she has worked on ads, animations and cartoons. She is also an author and writer by passion. She has sung as a playback singer for more than 30 films. Her recent hits are ‘Thinbeda Kami’ and ‘Taragathi’ from 'Aane Pataki Ali Baba'.

Sangeetha and her band performed a number of hits, enthralling the crowd that cheered and grooved to their tunes.

During the event, the cast and crew of latest Tulu movie 'Super Marmaye' promoted their film. Among those present were director of the movie Ram Shetty, actors Shivadwaj, Naveen D Padil and others were present.
