Mangaluru: Raghunath Shet, owner of S L Shet Jewellers, passes away

Mangaluru, Apr 7: M Raghunath Shet, owner of city's famous S L Shet Jewellers and Diamond House, passed away at KMC hospital here on Tuesday April 7. He was around 72 years.

He was hospitalized three days ago after he experienced difficulty in breathing. He passed away at around 11.30 am on Tuesday.

S L Shet Jewellers was set up in 1947 by Subraya Lakshman Shet. M Ragunath Shet, his eldest son, joined the business in 1965 along with his brother M Ravindra Shet. He devoted his initial years to learn the trade thoroughly.

In 1984, in the capacity of a manager partner, Raghunath Shet formed a partnership firm in the name of S L Shet Jewellers and Diamond House, with 3 other partners namely M Ravindra Shet, M Prashanth Shet and Padma R Shet.

Raghunath Shet also served as president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Karnataka, and was a founding member of Vishwa Konkani Kendra (World Konkani Centre). He was known for his social works.

He leaves behind his wife Padma, four sons and a daughter.
