Stan Ageira to address Daiji Dubai symposium on story writing

Dubai, Sep 22: Noted Konkani novelist and short story writer Stan Ageira will be the keynote speaker for symposium on story writing in Konkani on Friday, October 10 at 9:30 am at Zoomorodah Party hall in Karama, Dubai.

The event will be organized and presented by Daiji Dubai, distinguished forum of Konkani writers in Dubai. The theme of this symposium will be discoursed on ‘Back to Basics’ in story writing.

Winner of 6 prominent Konkani literary awards including prestigious Daiji Dubai Award for 2014, 53-year-old Stan Ageira hails from Mulky, a town close to Mangalore has written 18 Konkani novels, 300 Konkani short stories and 50 plus English short stories. A collection of his English stories was published by US based Raider publication International in 2010. He had begun penning stories at the age of 14 in 1975. His dedicated column 'Red Chillies' in Daijiworld is popular among short story lovers.He has works to his credit in humor too. Heading Daijiworld sales operations of Middle East, he lives in Dubai with wife Yvonne, children Sean and Elton.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Rony Byndoor, convener of Daiji Dubai said, “Stan Ageira’s stories are known for smart twist-in-the-tale endings. Real life plots, unique style, characterization and clever interactions have been his hallmark. His stories are appreciated by both common readers and critics as well. He has plenty to offer to fraternity of writers and readers.”

Daiji Dubai has been relentlessly working towards the development of Konkani literature and culture in UAE since 1999. The annual award given by Daiji Dubai to Konkani writers has become the most anticipated award for quite some time. The dedicated group is involved in Konkani book publications, cultural events and workshops. Large amounts have been also donated to financially weak and needy Konkani writers. The undying spirit and path breaking work of Daiji Dubai towards Konkani literature has made them the trendsetters of modern era of Konkani language.

Entry is free for registered participants. The session will begin at 9:30 am on October 10 and will end with lunch. Limited seats are available for this distinctive Konkani event.
