Aap Ki Adalat with Narendra Modi 'fixed' : India TV editorial director quits

Mumbai, Apr 15 (Agencies) : Qamar Waheed Naqvi, Editorial Director of India TV has resigned in, purportedly in protest of a “staged interview,” with the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Rajat Sharma’s famous programme “Aap Ki Adalat.”

Naqvi had joined IndiaTV recently after his long stint with the AajTak, where he had earned the respect for being enigmatic, behind-the-scenes father figure over the years.

IndiaTV’s interview of the Gujarat CM has become the butt of joke on social media after his epic ‘interview’ with Madhu Kishwar’s on NewsX.

The interview was sort of ‘hero-worshipping,’ and was conducted amidst chant of ‘Modi-Modi’ and ‘Bharat Maata Ki Jai.’ Although reference to the 2002 riots were made in passing, as also his tall claims on development, but not on one issue was cross-questioned. He was simply allowed to have his ways.

Rajat Sharma asked him about a tweet of Omar Abdullah where he had said that Modi accepts turban and other head-gears in other states, but not when a Muslim clergy offers him a cap. In reply among chants of ‘Bharat Mata’ and ‘Modi-Modi,’ Gujarat CM turned philosophic and said that he respects all religions and cultures although follows his own alone and that he does not believe in the politics of symbolism, but wants to see “Quran in one hand and Computer in other” of Muslim students.

Sharma did not even bother to ask him why the same parameters were not applied when accepting turbans or other similar head-gears in Punjab, Assam, Manipur, etc. Or does Mr Modi think that Muslim cap is ‘foreign’ unlike other ‘native’ traditions.

In fact while introducing Modi and giving his background, the celebratory ‘background’ talks how he started as a tea-vendor and rose on to power and how he is attacked by top politicians in opposition, but had no reference to the 2002 Gujarat riot.

The ceremonial ending of programme where 'people's judge,' author and academician Pushpesh Pant, passes his judgment was even problematic, when he talks about the 'clean chit' given to him by various courts and SIT, as the interview was not at all focused on the subject. He went on to suggest to Modi that “people will question him for next five years and beyond” for his work as prime minister. He has already accepted that Modi is going to be the PM.

This is not the first time. If you check their history, Rajat Sharma and India TV are known names associated with paid news...including many others like India News and its editor Deepak Chaurasia. Theses people and channels are often accused to be part of paid media and accepting money to produce biased and fake news and to use their channels for tarnishing the reputation of others. All such crooks deserve to be in Tihar Jail.....I hope a fixer does not become th PM of my country....

    My dear people,

Media is supposed to educate people, but instead if that he is planning to resign from his post. why? Is is a supporter of congress? If yes, then what is he doing in that channel. He should have joined politics. If no then he should educate the public. Your resignation shows that you are not fit be working there.

I have seen the interview of both modi and Rahul and i feel that modi is far far far better than Rahul. Even if rahul becomes the PM the entire control will be in the hands of Sonia ghandi like last elections and she will again do lot of scandals and send all our money to other country's funds. Also india is filled with scandals and corruption. what did congress do for 5 years? nothing.

As a educated person, I feel that we should give a chance to modi this time as we know congress has done nothing from 5 years other than scandals, increase in prices and decrease of rupee value.

When Mr. Sharma comes with a stack of paper, you have certain expectations from him, but this was utterly biased and a fixed. Mr. Rajath might support certain party or candidate and that’s his choice. But he has no right to use this platform to influence people to push his hidden agenda. It takes a real man and ethical journalist to call Spade a Spade but unfortunately Mr. Rajath’s action has proved he is neither!!

A soap like lux shows top movie actress and speaks about glowing skin. Coalgate shows white and healthy teeth. Such advt., connects with people. But, brand Modi is a product which is more or less adultured milk. People presuming milk, but drinking adultured milk will subsequently suffer from serious health hazards. Why adultured? There are facts, there are reasons and there is every kind of supporting evidence, should one choose to read the fine prints on the brand modi milk bottle.

2002riots are black dot in Indian History.
Among the total people were massacred there were 65% muslims and 35% hindus.
If you have to vent out your frustration and anger, you vent it out on Supreme court and our legal system.
When supreme court has given clean chit to Modi, you think you are above Supreme Court and you know more than the court?
Hatred what you are carrying in your mind will kill you slowly but nothing will happen to him. He will become PM on May 16th. That is the truth.

Supreme Court makes judgements based only evidence presented to it.
Evidence if destroyed, manipulated will not result in true justice.
Even a kid can understand this.

Even you know the rich and mighty never get convicted in India and they always get away.

The courts have not been able to convict the accused even in the 1984 riots which happened much earlier and the main accused are not even holding high office like CM etc.

So understand that people are clever enough to know that clean chit is nothing but clean s**t.

BTW, I carry no hatred and I care about every human life, regardless of nationality, state, religion, caste, skin colour, gender, language, physically or mentally challenged, young or old etc.. I carry a clean conscience and sleep well at night.

If anyone considers that fighting against wrong and evil is called hatred I can only say to such persons 'Get well soon' !

    R Fernandes
Here the issue is only about Modi, who is aspiring for the highest office of the land and I am fiercely opposed to it.
As far as 35% is concerned their killers are equally condemnable and should receive the harshest punishment.
I have never and will never support any group which kills in the name of any religion or communal hatred.
I really dont get too concerned about politics, though I follow it closely, but I decided to get into DW commentating only when I heard Modi's name for PM.
I have followed the case very closely while keeping an unbiased and neutral mind. There are just too many grey areas where the needle of suspicion points firmly at him.
I am a Congress supporter only for their ideology of pluralism and inclusiveness. I am not against the BJP as a political party as long as there is no hardline right wing leader and agenda favouring a particular religious community.
I am an Indian too. So what if I am Christian, this country belongs to all of us. I dont get that feeling with hardliners around.

Neither me nor anyone from my family or ancestors (as far back as I know) have received any favours from the government. So you see, we are not beneficiaries of any vote bank politics.

Common sense, adequate education, knowledge of the law and some IQ level are enough. No need to be from any Intelligence agency.

Dear Jossey, once for all I will try to explain you by defining the meaning of “Feku”
“Sonia is fake because her name is Hedvige Antonia Albina Moina”, Rajiv Gandhi is fake because his full name is Rajiv Khan, son of Firoz Khan”, “Besano being Birth place of Sonia is fake because she born in Luciana”, “Sonia studied in Cambridge University is fake because she never got education beyond 5th Standard”. And I can tell you what is not fake also, i.e. 2 billion US $ in Swiss Bank with the beneficiary name Sonia is not fake, Sonia’s Sister Alexandria having 2 shops in Italy selling antiques stolen from India is not fake, Pappu got admitted in Harvard but thrown off soon because he was incompetent is not fake!!!!

Just google Karan Thapar's devil's advocate programme with Modi. He could not continue take KP's questions beyond 5 minutes. Totally exhausted & left swetting with a glass of water.
This Man is going to be the biggest FEKU of Indian history..., Past, Present & probably in future ..., In fact he already sold BJP to the corporate bigwigs & Media is marketing him like anything, b'coz once Modi becomes PM the return is assured as FEKU Modi & his party support Crony Capitalism.
    Wait & watch...,
Final word ...., after all the prayers of tearful of women & crying babies will never go unanswered by our Lord Almighty (be it Hindu/Muslim or Christian).

Whole of India knows that the entire election campaign of Modi since a year or so ago has been 'FIXED' with a major section of the TV and other media which has been 'PAID' !

In some cases where the channel/media house as a whole is not biased you will find some 'ROGUE ELEMENTS' within them, i.e. you will find some individual journalists, reporters, anchors or other staff who has been biased either by money, favours or threats !

In some other cases, media persons themselves have violated work ethics by placing their personal choices/preferences over honest reporting !

    This is the truth !

Rajat did not ask what will Modi do regarding UPA's arbitrary fixing of 8$ for Reliance gas, when market-discovered the auction price was $1.2 $2.3
Rajat also did not ask why Modi continues to have a 3 year jail convict (convicted for mining scam) Babulal Bokhiria as his minister in Gujarat cabinet.
Rajat did not ask why Modi gave tickets to corrupt people like Yeddyurappa, Sriramulu, Sr Radadia etc and riot accused communal people like Hukum Singh, Sanjeev Baliyan, Kunwar Bhartendra Singh etc. Obviously the interview is fixed.
