Mumbai, Jun 21 (Agencies) : Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood's superstar of the 70s, has been ailing for quite some time. According to reports in the Indian media, his health has taken a turn for the worse.
Dimple, his estranged wife and Bollywood actress is constantly by his bedside. She visits him in Ashirwad, his bungalow on Mumbai's Carter Road, in the afternoon and stays till 10 at night.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the actor has not been eating properly since his last stint at the hospital. He has become very weak and doctors are visiting him every day at his residence.
Rajesh Khanna and Dimple separated in 1984. They have two daughters, Twinkle and Rinkie.
Twinkle is married to Akshay Kumar and they have a son named Aarav. Twinkle is six-and-a-half-months pregnant with the couple's second child. Twinkle and Akshay have been spotted in the city's Gurudwara, offering prayers for Rajesh Khanna's quick recovery.
Despite his ill health, Kaka, as he is popularly known, stepped out to endorse a television ad that was shot by adman-turned-filmmaker R Balki (of Paa and Cheeni Kum fame). He used the money earned from the ad to buy a BMW for his younger daughter. Rinkie is slated to fly down to Mumbai to be with him, given his worsening health condition.
Kaka is reportedly terminally ill and has in the past battled cancer. He has been in and out of a Bandra hospital for the last year.
It is indeed ironic that Rajesh Khanna, who reached sky-high fame for his role in the film 'Anand' (Babumoshaai), should himself suffer from cancer. In Anand Kaka essayed the role of Anand Sehgal, a cancer (lymphosarcoma of the intestine) patient who, despite knowing this fact, believes in living his life to the fullest.
