Alina Saldanha Inducted in Goa Cabinet

Panaji, Jun 9:
Alina, wife of former tourism minister Matanhy SAldanha, was inducted into state cabinet on Friday, June 8, a fortnight after she was elected unopposed from Cortalim constituency.

Saldanha was given oath of secrecy by Goa Governor B V Wanchoo in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan which was attended by dignitaries including chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

Alina had won the election on BJP ticket after two contestants – Raymond D’Sa (Congress) and Ramakant Borkar (Independent) withdrew from the race.

The by election was necessitated after demise of Saldanha, who died due to heart attack.

Parrikar said that the he would announce the portfolios for Alina on Monday. “I will be consulting her before deciding on which portfolios should be given to her,” he said.
