Dammam, Sep 20: The Saudi Konkan Youngsters (SKY) celebrated Monthi Fest with great devotion and joy recently at Farm House, Al Khobar here.

The celebrations started off with children coming in procession to honour Infant Mary with flowers and hymns. Blessed Paddy (Qanshoi), specially flown in from Mangalore, was distributed to the gathered guests. All the children were offered sugarcanes. Blessed Novem mixed in milk was served to all.

Bible Quiz was efficiently conducted for kids by Leslie Ferrao. This was followed by a series of entertaining events which includes spot games, lucky draw, housie-housie and dance.

Traditional meal with seven different types of delicious vegetables with Sanna, Rice and Vorn (sweet dish) was served on banana leaves (Shiroti) to the guests.

General secretary Roshan D’Souza gratefully expressed special thanks to the sponsors for their generous financial help. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ivy Mathias.

SKY president Ronald Fernandes, Shirthady welcomed the gathering.  Mark Tellis, vice-president of SKY led the prayers and briefed the gathering about the importance of Monthi Fest.

Around 300 Konkani speaking people young and old actively participated in the celebrations.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Ronald, SKY Dammam varado Gurkar for inviting me for the blessed feast of Infant Mary. I am sad that I could not make it to stand with the awesome crowd. This perhaps wthered for the MONTHI FEST held aroung the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for sure and hats off with a salute ti SKY organisers. I stand with full respect to SKY for the splendid celebration and Infant born Mary will have no hesitation in showering her heavenly blessings on the entire group. This is Saudi Arabia and I know and can understand the pain in organising such a non-islamic event. The mighty strength of SKY should not be forgotten in dreams even. To the whole sky while congratulating and wishing a belated Monthi Fest, I will have these words...'Randwoyecha jevvank bosulli line poleytana muja thondanth wudak ailen. Shirotechen jevaan the NIRMOL ani burgyancha bosyenth thavn yeta madhur phulanso PORMOL'. SKY thumcha muklya apurbayecha karyank yashaswi magtan.
