    The feast of Nativity of our Lady was celebrated with solemnity mingled with prayers, wishes and expression of joy at Fajir church. The entire celebration began at 8:00 a.m. People assembled in the church, donors were honoured through the handing over the candles. After honouring all the donors, people gathered in the school ground, where floral offerings to Infant Mary statue, blessings of the New corn were done. Thereafter, people had solemn procession to the Church. The Gurkars of 16 wards, Vice President Mr. Victor Monteiro, Secretary Mr. Felix Monteiro carried the Blessed new corn in procession and symbolically represented the entire parish. People participated in the Eucharistic procession presided by Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino, the resident priest.
    Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino wished all the parishioners a Happy Feast filled with joy, conveyed the wishes to all on behalf of the parish priest Fr. Stany Pereira, who is getting better from injuries due to minor accident. Gurkars distributed the Blessed New corn to the parishioners. Children and all the people received sugar canes, the traditional sweet to express the festal joy. The choir added joy to the devotion through their melodius singing.
    After the mass, ICYM unit members had a Lucky Dip draw in support of their programme ‘Spiritual Conference of Varado Youth on September 25, 2011’. ICYM members received an overwhelming support.
    The presence of people in large numbers to thank the Lord, honour Mother Mary made the ceremony meaningful. The overwhelming support of donors made the ceremony joyful. This celebration of family feast manifested the true family unity of parishioners of Fajir and their gratefulness to God.
