St. Antony Shrine at Naravi

The mission work at Naravi was started by Rev. Fr Faustine Corti in the year 1905. It has a 109 years pf long history. Fr Corti who was from Switzerland came to Naravi and served here from 1905-1926. Being a zelous priest though of a great Calliber worked strenaously at naravi for 21 years.Naravi has seen astounding growth during its almost 109 years. It is because of our Patron “St Antony of Padua”. Through his inspiration and intercession many priests and religious have toiled themselves for the development of this place and people . The educational institutions at Naravi are a platform for hundreds of students for their future life.

Naravi Orphanage for Children

It was started by Late Rev. Fr J.B. Alvares in 1946 with 12 poor children. Today this orphanage is extended, catering the educational needs of many poor children of distant corners of Karnataka irrespective of caste and creed. Thousands of children who studied here have flourished in the society and At present there are 250 shildren studying in this orphanage. It has 67 years

    I remember my school days during summer vacation when I used to visit Naravi and assist the nuns in the orphanage work while my uncle Fr. Paul Fernandes was the parish priest there.
    Incredible improvement since then.
