    Dear Carlos,
Tendli or Tondekayi as they are known in Kannada are called Ivy Gourd in English and Coccina Grandis botanically. The seeds are available for sale on and should ship easily to Brasil.
The Wedding Pickle can be made with just carrots or a variety of vegetables by following your favourite family recipe. We usually make it with carrot, cauliflower, raw papaya, Tondekayi, and dried dates cut into strips. The dates absorb moisture and swell up adding a special bit of deliciousness to the recipe.
My Dad once told me that, traditionally, Wedding Pickle was made using seven vegetables and the spice mix was meant to be sweet (Jaggery), sour (Vinegar), savoury (Salt), spicy (Chillies, Pepper) and bitter (Methi seeds). The seven vegetables signified a wish for abundance for the new couple and the five tastes signified the joys and trials that a long married life would bring.
May the secrets of the Mangalorean kitchen live on in your future generations.
    Best wishes,

There is no need for tendli. Cauliflower (florets) is equally good if not better. You can also skip papaya. What is missing in this recipe is oil - it has to be sesame oil.
