Oh God This is Heaven

April 7, 2017

Oh God This is Heaven

When we experience Happiness
We say Oh God this is Heaven
Many events make us feel this way
And these are my favourite seven.

Looking out at the river and sea
The cool breeze blowing on my face
The swaying palms completes the scene
This has to be a Heavenly place.

On a hot sweltering day we only need
Tender coconut water to drink
And eat its soft malai flesh
We're certainly on Heaven's brink.

Seeing a baby laugh and giggle
Just enjoying my silly prompt
A toddler's first steps or pitter patter
With this heavenly feeling we're swamped.

We were challenged and we worked hard
Many times we wanted to give up
And when we accomplished the results we desired
The trophy is Heaven's own Cup.

Our family sits down and we reminisce
Going down memory lane
Our family albums bring out much laughter
It's Heaven all over again.

We gift our family, friend or someone in need
Something they really wanted
Their gratuitous face radiates a joyous smile
Into Heaven's euphoria we're jaunted.

We go for a retreat and live simply
And hear many a reflective sermon
We sit meditating concentrated in prayer
And feel God's arms...we're in Heaven.

Our life on Earth has many ups and downs
We're embroiled worrying about hardships we're given
Let's learn to cherish the blessings we experience
And say Oh God this is Heaven.

Wonderful write-up, dear Jasmine. Well timed for the Holy Week and well understood. It is quite evident that you are truly accepting all the worldly pleasures in the right sense and acknowleding your recognition of God for all the great favors bestowed upon you and all of us in this "small world, a beautiful world".

We have so much to be thankful for in this world. The good weather, the good food, good friends and good family - all of these are innumerable gifts from God that are placed in our good hands every single day of our life. All that we need to do is to acknowledge God's handsome gifts each day and share those gifts in whichever way can with many others that surround us in our daily life. In countries specially like India where population is ever-growing the daily shortages of clean water, clean food and clean air is becoming a short supply. The global warming is getting increasingly evident and that causes concern and alarm in parts of India where water could in abundant short supply. God is the only mercy that we all need to cling to and seek God's kind protection so that our glamorous cities, towns and villages are spared from any major disasters.

Please continue sharing your inspiring thoughts and feelings, and let us all help to make this world a better place to live and survive. This world is truly a "heaven on earth", and let us continue our mission by serving many others that need our help and support, and in turn God will help us. Wishing you and everyone a Happy Holy Week.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I was enjoying the breeze and cried out to myself, this is heaven. So I thought of writing the poem and make us realize the many times God makes us experience Heaven on Earth.
I do have many poems and probably will start sending it to Daijiworld to publish.
