Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy Appointed Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University

Bangalore, Mar 2, (DHNS) : Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy, former professor of Botany, University of Mysore, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University by the Governor H R Bhardwaj, as per the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000 and as the Chancellor of Universities of Karnataka. 

According to a notification from the Governor, the tenure for the post of Vice Chancellor will be four years or till he attains the age of 65.

Prof Shivashankara Murthy succeeds Prof K K Achary, senior most Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology at Mangalore University, who was appointed as the acting vice-chancellor with effect from January 12, 2010. Achary took charge as the in-charge as interim measure after Prof K M Kaveriappa retired from the post of varsity VC.
