Abu Dhabi – Nov. 23:  Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha is set once again to organize their popular annual Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Ladies Throw Ball Tournament  at Abu Dhabi Indian School grounds, on Friday January 22, 2010.
 
This tournament is held every year in memory of Kossamma Shambu Shetty, beloved mother Dr. B.R. Shetty of N.M.C. Group.
 
The tournament will commence at 08:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.
 
The Tournament will be inaugurated by Dr. B. R. Shetty and Dr. Chandrakumari B.R.Shetty prior to the games commencement.

Sarvotham Shetty – President of the Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha informed Daijiworld that this year there will be 8 teams participating in this tournament and expects that there will be plenty of entertainment with nail biting finishes.
 
The tournament has gained popularity since its inception and attracts teams from all over the gulf and people in large numbers await to witness this mega event to cheer the participating teams.
 
The organizers have drafted certain rules and regulations to avoid any disputes and the teams are expected to go through these rules prior to the commencement of the tournment
 
Following are some of the rules and salient features of the tournament :
 
There will be 8 teams participating in Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Ladies Throwball Tournament  this year.
 
These teams will be devided into two groups by drawing the lots in the morning on 22nd Jan. 2010 (Friday).
 
Each group would consist of four teams.
 
The winners with highest points from each group will be selected for the Semi Finals by drawing the lots.
 
League level will be played only one game  for regular 15 points.
 
The Semi Finals will be played only one game for regular 21 points.
The finals will be best of three for regular 15 points.
 
The team reaching 15 points first in the league and 21 points first in the Semi Finals will be the Winners.
 
The same rule would apply for finals as well.
 
All players shall be present at 8 am (sharp) on 22nd Jan, 2010.
No entry fees will be levied for participating in the tournament.
Each Throwball Team shall consist of 9 players and 3 substitutes.
Winners shall be awarded with the KSSM  trophy's.
Organising Committee shall be the final authority in case any dispute.
Lunch shall be provided to the Teams and spectators.
Fixtures shall be drawn on 22nd Jan. 2010 in the presence of all Team Managers/Captains.
The prize distribution & the closing ceremony will be held at the venue at 6 pm.
 
Rules for Kosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Ladies THROWBALL Tournament:

(1) Referee's decision is final.
(2) In case of a player is injured, she should be replaced only with a substitute player listed.
(3) Please wait for the "whistle" from the referee before you serve.
(4) Call out the score & the word "PLAY" loudly before you serve.  If not, the ball shall be passed on to the opposite team.
(5) Stepping on the line while serving is OUT.  So better watch your line before you serve.
(6) Under arm serve & throws are considered "FOUL".
(7) Service on the line is "OUT".
(8) Any other ball on the line, including Box line is "RIGHT".
(9) Stepping inside the box while receiving OR throwing the ball shall be given "FOUL".
(10) Any ball that falls inside the box is "OUT".
(11) Double touch, Body touch & throwing the ball with two hands is "FOUL".
(12) Twisting or rolling of the ball while receiving is "FOUL".
(13) Only one step is allowed while throwing the ball.
(14) Slight delay in returning the ball will also be considered "FOUL".
(15) Tossing  the ball (except for the service ball) to different hands is not allowed for more than three times.
(16) Two "time-outs" for each team in a set shall be permitted and the duration of each "time-out" shall be 30 secs.
 
Repeated arguments with the referees, line men and the organisers will not be entertained and it may lead to disqualification of the team.
 
In case of any clarifications only the team managers or  captains can represent.
The Organizes solicit the support of the public and invite to witness the tournament with family and friends and make the event a grand success.
