Beltangady: ‘Make More Tulu Films’ – Jayamala

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Nov 21: Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) president, Dr Jayamala, opined that the Unesco report, which said that Tulu is on the verge of extinction, is exaggerated and misleading. “If our language dies, it is as good as our own death. We should take a vow to fight for the survival of our language even at the cost of our lives,” she advised. She was speaking after inaugurating the Tulu Film Festival being held at Bharath Talkies here, as part of the upcoming Vishwa Tulu Sammelan.

“Cinema has the potential to transform even illiterate persons into knowledgeable ones. Although the number of people speaking Bhojpuri language is less than the Tuluvas, 75 movies are made in that language annually. So, at least ten Tulu movies should hit the screens every year,” she opined.

On the occasion, actor and director,K N Tailor, producer and distributor, T A Srinivas, director, Dr Richard Castelino, producer, Ashok Suvarna, Kumbra Raghunath Rai and Lokesh M V were honoured.

Vishwa Tulu Sammen committee general secretary, Dr Mohan Alva, presided. MLA Vasant Bangera, who is the producer of the film, ‘Sangama Sakshi’, presided. D Surendra Kumar Dharmasthala, Sammelan committee secretary, Dr B Yashovarma, Tulu Film Festival committee member Bharat Ballal, owner of the theatre, Muralidhar Rao, etc., were present.

Tulu Academy member, D Yadupati Gowda, welcomed. Dramatist H K Nainad, presented the programme. Convener of Tulu Film Festival Committee, Mohan Shettigar, proposed vote of thanks.

Tulu films will be screened till December 16 in different theatres in Beltangady, Puttur, Udupi, Moodbidri and Ujire, as part of the festival.

I am of the opinion that other language movies should be allowedto be DUBBED in Tulu .Right now Karnataka govt has banned DUBBING if other language movies in Tulu .This ban has to be lifted. I dont understand what is their problem if we devolop our Tulu language

It is nice to see the great tulu legendary actor Mr.K.N Tailer back in stage. But, dear Jayamalaji, being a tuluva lady, what is your share for Tulu Cinema? Did you ever think of making a Tulu cinema or Tulu drama recently.
