Mangalore: Paintings on Tulunadu - ‘Varnamudi’ Exhibition Concludes

Mangalore, Nov 3: Forty artists exhibited their paintings on Tulunadu at the valedictory ceremony of ‘Varnamudi’ held at SDM Law College on Monday November 2.  

The two-day artists’ camp was organized as a precursor to the World Tulu Convention to be held in December.

The camp was organized by Kudla Kalavali Samithi in association with Karavali Chitra Kalavidaru, with all members drawing pictures on culture, tradition, and the life of Tulunadu. Artists from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasargod, participated in the camp.

At the valedictory function, V Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, was the chief guest. He said that art is the only the way of carrying forward the culture and traditional values of a place.












































Well-known artists Ramesh Rao Udupi, P S Punchithaya, Mohan Sona, Ganesha Somayaji,  K L Bhat, Jagadeesh Ammunje, Purushotham Adve, Permude Mohan Kumar, N S Pathar, Jayavanth, Tharanath Kairangal, Veena Srinivas, Dinesh Holla, and V K Vitla, also participated in the camp and depicted their art through various mediums such as oil, water colour, acrylic, and mixed medium.

At the valedictory function, Kudla Kalavali Samithi president Jagadeesh Ammunje thanked the artists. 

Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, chairman of Tulu Sahitya Academy, Chaithanya Tallur, general manager, State Bank of India, art promoter Kotiprasad Alva, Yashovarma, secretary, World Tulu Convention committee, and senior Artist K L Bhat were present.

The camp had been inaugurated by Dr Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Trust, on Monday November 1.
