It's Official : Yeddyurappa to Remain CM, Reddys Fail

New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will remain in the post, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Monday stated, putting an end to the intense leadership tussle plaguing the party's first government in the south for the past few weeks.

Emerging from the BJP's Core Committee's meeting to decide on the leadership issue Monday evening, Singh said that Yeddyurappa would continue.

"Yes, he will," Singh told reporters in reply to a question whether Yeddyurappa will remain the chief minister.

The core committee meeting was attended by veteran leader L.K. Advani, party president Singh and general secretary Arun Jaitley.

Earlier in the day, G. Janardhana Reddy, the tourism minister and one of the Reddy brothers who is gunning to remove Yeddyurappa, met Jaitley and party MP Ananth Kumar in Delhi.

"Every legislator and MP put forward their viewpoints," general secretary Jaitley had told reporters here.

"Based on that we (Ananth Kumar and Jaitley) gave our report to the national leadership," Jaitley said after meeting Reddy.

The main demand of the Reddy brothers is to have a home minister in the state of their choice, withdrawal of abduction cases against them and revamping of the state administration.

The power tussle in the BJP's Karnataka unit saw prolonged negotiations between leaders of the rival camps and national leaders here Sunday.

Several legislators and MPs belonging to both camps - one supporting Yeddyurappa and the other favouring the Reddy brothers of Bellary - were in the capital.

Yeddyurappa supporters -- former MP Dhananjay Kumar and state Home Minister V.S. Acharya -- met Advani and party president Rajnath Singh Sunday.

Acharya and Kumar also called on RSS pointsman and BJP general secretary Ramlal earlier and claimed his support in favour of Yeddyurappa.

The Reddy brothers - ministers G. Janardhana Reddy and elder brother G. Karunakara Reddy (Revenue) - were lobbying to appoint assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar as the chief minister. Shettar, 53, is close to the brothers.

Dear Munna, Mother Theresa was a living saint. Mr Shanawaz has given an example only. He knows she is true saint and will become saint soon.

Jaiho Yediyurappaji. May God bless you with health and happiness to take karnataka to glory under your leadership. Kindly work without favour or fear and Crack whip whenever required against everyone, causing hindrances and troubles in discharge of your constitutional obligations for the betterment of everyone in Karnataka. Bury those reddis in the same mine.

Mr. shahnawaz kukkikatte... A correction to ur comment Mother Teresa is not yet proclaimed a saint. The process of becoming a Catholic saint is lengthy, often taking decades or centuries to complete. Right now her name is under the canonization process.

Withdrawal of abduction cases for keeping Reddy's quiet!!! If this report of demand from Reddy's is true, then these blackmailers must be immediately permanently disqualified from the assembly membership and ban them from taking part in any public/political leadership.

Both Yediurappa and Rajnath Singh's future as leaders are bleak and gloomy. Is it necessary to be in power to serve the people/nation. Mother Theresa never joined a poilitical party to serve the people, yet she did and received nobel peace and later became saint.... Its not serving the people but its serving oneself and becoming rich for generations....Thats the blunt truth behind all this drama..

After the pub attacks Mr. Rajnath singh came to Bangalore to take stock of the situation. He clarified the matter with BJP leaders and he was convinced by them and he left. Before he left he had a press meet and during the press meet Mr. Yeddurappa spoke and he stood up to proceed yet he was speaking.

The security people of him removed/pulled back his chair. Perhaps Mr. Rajnath Singh did not notice and he asked Mr. Yeddyurappa to take the seat and while he was sitting there was no kursi/chair, he fell down while on motion. The kursi is really now dwindling and most probably he will lose which is imminent, imperative and ought to happen

Will BJP govt in Karnataka be serious henceforward about administration. It was shameless power struggle in ruling BJP that shocked people of Karnataka, at a time when northern districts were reeling under flood fury. Yeddyurappaji you took the help of Reddy brothers for the formation of BJP govt. Now they want you to dance to their tunes. Please tell them you have better business of looking after the interest of people.
