Qatif, Saudi Arabia , Nov 2: “Come to the stage and show your talents” is the call given by Mangalore Association of Saudi Arabia to its members on Talents Day which was held recently at King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz Hall at Qatif.
The event started with lighting the ceremonial lamp by the Chief guest Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Nasser , President Madhav Amin along with Vice President Ravi Karkera and Executive Committee members of MASA. The age groups for all the events were from 0 to 6, 6 to 10, 10 to 14, 14 to 18 and above 18. Singing by each participant was the mixer of melody, romantic and rocking numbers. Changing the mood of the audience was deeply experienced by various fancy dress presentations. Mind blowing and inspirational display of dance competitions were keenly observed by the audience with thundering applauses. Some of the events really made everyone to feel the taste of Mangalorean Culture which is far away from everyone who lives in this part of the world. Tulu Chutuku by Ibrahim Kader was an attempt to rebrush values of Tulu Language.
The performance was evaluated in a professional way by keeping in mind the criteria such as Vocal (pitch, tone), performance (confidence & attitude), Rhythm; Costumes & Expression; under the supervision of DTM Lancy D’souza.
Encouraging the youth of this day, was really taken care by MASA by giving an opportunity to Anchor the whole event of MASA TALENT S DAY by its youth leaders who attained immense training organized by MASA under the banner of Nesma Toast Master’s Club.
One of the memorable moments everyone cherished was welcoming the visiting parents of the members to the stage and honoring them with bouquet
Awards for the winners were handed over by the Sponsors, Judges & Committee Members. Taste to the lips, the delicious food was catered by Bikki Restaurant and evening snacks by Gulf Darbar Restaurant.

To express the gratitude to all those who put their heart & soul to make this evening a successful one was read out by Youth Leader Rajani Poojary.
”No one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude”
Children are our future; we appreciate the little one and teens for their excellent show case. The gala evening ended with National Anthem by the gathered (approx 600) members and guests.

Dear Max & Jesse, your very first message on one of our previous programme is still alive in my mind. There you have mentioned about Shetty, Poojary, Karkera, Sequeira & Beary are under one roof. And now this message is indeed so inspiring to everyone in MASA. Please make yourself present for during our next Annual Day celebration. Best Regards, Victor

It is fascinating to note that Al Qatif town has turned out to be an active place where Mangalorean Talents Day took place recently. Al Qatif, Safwa and even Jubail were small fishing villages filled with date palms that were used as picnic spots more than 40 years ago. While memories of the past linger with fond gratitude, it is nice to know that a large Mangalorean community prevails in Qatif today. As and when we visit Saudi Arabia some time we would like to visit some of these good old towns and meet some of the dear Arab faces of the past who have worked with us and helped us to grow and prosper.

Having lived in the middle east for the last twenty five years, and knowing well the socio-cultural pulse of the region especially in countries like Saudi etc., I would like to personally CONGRATULATE warmly those (members of various community backgrounds) who unitedly took the initiative to organize the programme with such a large gathering of ladies and children both on the stage and among the audience…..perhaps daring to face all the possible risks involved….and that includes the President Madhav Amin along with Vice President Ravi Karkera and excecutive Committee members of MASA. Including Saritha Praveen Aranha….all of you truly represent unique leadership qualities for which all Mangaloreans should be proud of . The fact that you proved that all communities can come and work together is a major lesson to most of the Mangalorean organizations in various parts of the gulf which once they come together soon tend to get devided on religious or language backgrounds. Beautiful colourful photographs and very informative presentation of the activities……in the Daijiworld….and we wish you more and more success all along the way ahead!!!!
