Mangalore: Charity Musical Evening 'The Cause' set to make a Difference
By Trishma Pinto

Mangalore, Nov 1: Soulful music, a chill winter evening, and an ambience by the riverside. If that’s not reason enough to celebrate Children’s Day at the Cascia Tile Factory this November 14, then here’s another one: THE CAUSE, a charity musical evening, will ensure that you have a rollicking good time while contributing to a noble initiative.

The proceeds of the concert, organized by a band of ex-students of St Aloysius PU College, Mangalore, will go towards starting a scholarship fund for needy students at the St Aloysius Higher Primary School.

Fr. Clifford Sequeira, Correspondent of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School, says, “Establishing a scholarship fund not only allows students who would otherwise not have means to pursue education, but it is also a way we can inspire and support student coming from poorer and deprived sections, while recognizing the contribution education has made in our own lives.”

The evening is expected to ring out with music from classic sensations like Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton and The Eagles, to modern idols like Jason Mraz and Creed. The dance floor will also be open for couples who’d like to shake a leg to The Wonders and Shakin’ Stevens, all to be performed by:

Varun Rao(Vocals/guitar/saxophone)
Titus Watson(keys)
Roxwell D'souza(vocals/drums/beat box)
Bradly Fernandes(bass/vocals)
Ashish Palana(guitar/vocals/violin)

“We came up with the concept of THE CAUSE, because we’ve seen students not being able to afford the benefits of an English medium education. We hope people of all ages will head down to show support to THE CAUSE, and we assure them a gala evening!” says Jason Rego, organizer and Ex-Aloysian. He adds: “The expenses of the show would amount to Rs. 80, 000, for which we sincerely and gratefully wish for generous contributions by sponsors to cover the same.”

Your presence and donations for THE CAUSE will change the life of a deserving student. At the price of Good Fun, Good Food, and Good Music, it’s awesome to make this difference!

Yes Mr Pandit,i second your suggestion.but we will be also performing western oldies which are very popular among the native indian crowd too.besides we also took into consideration those guests who are not much into Indian music and we DO NOT wish to change the mood of the evening by putting together songs in different languages.we will even be playing a few jive numbers and v want to have a crowd with equal interest so that they have an evening they expect without any shifting in the mood of their interest... thank you for your suggestion though.

Good idea. However, why only western music and songs? Probably they could have pulled a bigger crowd and more funds if they had Indian music in their program as well. Moreover, native Indians bands usually fail in singing western songs to a level of satisfaction due to our natural differences in accent/pronounciation of words. In any case, I wish all the best to them.
