Mangalore, Jul 21:  A drama unfolded after a team of policemen from Andhra Pradesh, who had been in the city to make an arrest, were accosted by some local youths on Monday evening, July 20.

The four policemen had arrested Fr Jerry Sequeira, founder, Divine Call Centre at Mulky, based on a complaint lodged against him in a women’s police station in Hyderabad by a woman.

The police from Hyderabad had arrested the accused from his residence after informing their counterparts at Mulky police station.
The group of youths got the impression that this was an attempted kidnap and tried to get Fr Sequeira released by confronting the Andhra police while they were taking a tea break at a hotel while escorting the accused to Hyderabad.

The Andhra policemen explained to the youngsters in Telugu that the arrest was legitimate and based on a complaint. But the youths began alleging that it is a kidnapping.

They tried to take away Fr Sequeira and a quarrel broke out. Later, the Andhra police called in the local police as a crowd gathered.

Kadri police took into custody two people from Mulky who were involved in the incident.

Shivaprasad, sub-inspector, Kadri police station, said that the whole incident was a result of a misunderstanding arising from rumours of the arrest and language problems as the Andhra policemen spoke only in Telugu which the youth could not understand.

He said that the confusion was cleared after they were taken to the police station.

After the issue was resolved, the Andra Pradesh police left for Hyderabad with the accused.

I really don''t understand why we human beings are not able to forgive something which was history when our good Lord Jesus could forgive his enemies who nailed him to the cross! Where is our faith? Atleast this sort of situation should not have come to a dynamic priest like Fr. Jerry who has inculcated deep faith in the lost sheep and brought them back to their Good Shepherd. Fr. Jerry - Jesus is with you and will will surely receive justice soon.

It`s very sad to read about Fr. Jerry in the news papers and in the webs, but he is the cause of all these issues. At least let him realize the mistake and humble himself to the Authority. Jesus our Lord humbled himself to the will of the Father from the Crib to the Cross, therfore God exualted Him. There is no doubt Fr.Jery was a wonderful Priest who has worked for the good of the community, but now he is not!? Now he is deviding the community.Dear Fr.Jerry wake up,if it is Gods work,He will take care of it,leave it in His hand, you just surrender to His will.

Fr. Jerry should be forgiven because Jesus has forgiven us our sins. We have no right to condemn him. If you have not sinned throw the first stone at him.

It is terrible to read about Fr Jerry. He is a wonderful father who has worked forthe good of the community. Spread the word ofthe Lord to the common public. Promoted devine music. He worked hard at muthangi, tarnaka in Hyderabad and is known to be a very good priest. But human weakness he succumed to. we can only pray to the lord that media wont make the issue a laughable item to the public.
