Moodbidri: Ghastly Road Accident Kills Three, Injures Two

by Shekar Ajekar
Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (RS/SP)

Moodbidri, Jul 20: Three members of a family, who were travelling in a car, were killed while two others were injured, in an accident that took place near Todar in Moodbidri on Monday, July 20.

The accident occurred between a car and a private bus, near a school zone in Todar. The site of the accident has become notorious for the reason that several accidents keep occurring often.

The deceased have been identified as Nafeeza (50), Ismail (35) Badruddin (32). The injured Kunhimolu (45) and Mohammad (60) have been admitted to a private hospital in the town. All the victims were locals.

The car was moving towards Moodbidri from Mangalore, after picking an old aged man from a private hospital in Mangalore, after he was discharged.

The people who gathered near this accident site charged the concerned department with showing utter neglect to the plight of the people, by not taking any action to stop the accidents from taking place often. The department can widen the road or can set up traffic signals to alert the divers to drive cautiously.

Policemen from Moodbidri station visited the spot and registered a case in this regard.

In mangalore bus drivers follow their own rules and it seems running on their own route. Policemen seem to be mute spectators and are are not taking any action against them.

Everytime we should not blame drivers. Our roads are so bad and there are also otherreasons due to which accidents take place. First of all we ourselves should take care by parking in the right place. Lastly it's after all fate..sorry to hear the news.

Here we go again - another fatal accident! May God bless those lost souls and may their near and dear ones find strength to bear their irreparable loss. As I had mentioned earlier elsewhere, I have invariably observed that the bus drivers, irrespective whether they are Government or privately run, drive like maniacs, without giving any consideration to their own safety of life as well as of those number of people they carry. This is specially so on routes from Venur to Moodbidri - Karkal, Moodbidri to Mangalore, Mangalore to Bantwal - Belthangady, etc. on which I regularly travel during my holidays. It`s high time that the Traffic Authorities brought their act together and get into action to arrest all those erratic drivers.

If the spot is dangerous and often we read about accidents near the curve and bends of Thodar then what Traffif Police are doing. What action authorities have taken so far. Can the concerned Ministry Head look these issues which costs innocent human lives!! Taking human lives have become very cheap in place like Dakshina Kannada now a days.

It is very tragic that we are loosing precious lives every day on the roads of undevided DK district., mainly because of careless private bus and ore carrying truck drivers. Unless & until the authorities & public at large determine to teach a lesson to the reckless and irresponsible private bus / truck drivers and owners, there would not be any end to these tragedies. There is no point in blaming for the condition of roads on every accident. Every time I travel by these private buses I keep praying for the safe arrival at the destination. May Almighty God grant the Eternal Rest to the departed souls.

Its the reckless driving which is happening in Mangalore. Everyone is in a hurry and there is no patience. I noticed this while I was there few months ago. Due to the neglegance of few maniacs precious lives are being lost. Even if the police are strict, roads are in very good condition, unless the attitude of the people change, we will have to live with such tragedies. May good sense prevail among mangaloreans and such tradegies are averted.

Sad news and a tragic traffic accident killing three & injuring other two passengers! If that particular zone is a accident prone one why there is no warning signal displayed there ? Inspite of repeated accidents why our NH authorities are not taking any precautions to prevent accidents? People are dying due to road accidents every day particularly on NH ways. A road traffic week should be organised to educate our young drivers to avoid accidents. Sorry for the passengers who lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace.
