Canadan, Jul 9: The powerful ‘Dhinchaks XI’ clinched the prestigious MFSI Trophy and ‘Sauga Centurions’ won the Runners-up in the MFSI Cricket Tournament, a long awaited tournament by Indian Cricket enthusiasts held last Saturday at the Oakville Cricket grounds organized by the Mangalorean Friendship Series Initiative here in Mississauga, Canada.
It was truly a fun-in-the-sun event thoroughly enjoyed by hundreds of cricket lovers. Cricket in the sunshine is what every enthusiast and aficionado in the sport dreams about. And MFSI was blessed with a day full of it. The event was well attended and a festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the day. The ground ambience was picturesque with churches and steeples and trees in full bloom and well laid grass surrounding an artificial turf wicket.

Mangalorean Friendship Series Initiative (MFSI) organized its third event for the Indian community at large this year at the Oakville Cricket grounds at Glenashton park, Oakville and had the 150 + participants and enthusiasts enjoying the best weekend of the summer with a day of exciting close finishes and some lusty hitting. Nine full-fledged teams with a minimum of two women players in each team took the field and vied competitively with one another to gain supremacy. Every match was well contested with fortunes swinging either way till the end. Not to be outdone one of the teams, Dhinchaks XI was captained by Janice D'Cunha, a woman player who led the team very astutely to wrest the trophy and win the tournament. ‘Sauga Centurions were the runners up but could not match the heat of some big hitting and calculated play generated by Dhinchaks XI. The final match had a nail biting finish. The other teams that could not make it to the semi finals were: Knight Riders, Mangostan, Mount Carmel, Mississauga Mustangs and BMO/Remax. The two losing semi finalists were Mangies United and Pit Bulls. MFSI which is organized and sponsored by Wilson D'Souza (Bank of Montreal) and Reynold Sequeira (Re/max) thanks all those who gladly volunteered their time and services to set up this tournament and those who supported this event through their presence and enthusiasm, that has now become a regular feature in the community calendar in Canada. Now, the professionally organized MFSI Tournaments have become the talk of the town in Mississauga, Canada.
The Mangalorean community in Mississauga feels proud of the Champions. Hats off to Wilson D’Souza (BMO) and Reynold Sequeira (Re/max) the dynamic organizers of the MFSI Tournaments for their dedication and hard work, which made the tournament a tremendous success.

| Well organized and full of fun and enjoyed throughout the day. Best part of the event were the "youth", to see them in majority and their active roll, enthusiasm and competitiveness. Well done and keep up the good work organizers. |
