Mumbai, Jun 23: The first rains of this monsoon were received in the metro on Sunday June 21 evening, coupled with thunder and lightning for almost half an hour, bringing relief to Mumbaikars who were reeling under soaring temperatures.  The rains have arrived 15 days late than usual this time, as the monsoon normally hits the metro in the first week of June every year.

Although the traffic was disrupted for a while, it eased once rains receded.  Despite the fact that the city witnessed temperatures soaring to levels not witnessed in the past three and a half decades during this summer, no water scarcity was witnessed across the metro, as the Brahunmumbai Mahanagara Palike had taken appropriate measures to tackle the issue.  Metro’s meteorology department had issued advance alerts about the arrival of the monsoon, enabling the public utility authorities to take precautionary measures.

The meteorology department has forecast that the sea along the metro’s coast will witness high tide and giant-sized waves from Tuesday June 23 to Thursday June 25, which might cause flooding in the low-lying areas across the metro.  It has also advised the authorities to grant holidays from Thursday July 23 to Saturday July 25 to the educational institutions, since heavy rains, speeding gale and deluge have been forecast, never witnessed since a century.

The citizens of the metro have been warned against venturing into the flood water that is expected to enter the city streets, during the said period for fun or any other reason whatsoever.  Motorists have also been advised to avoid taking their automobiles on the roads as traffic bottle-necks and accidents are likely to occur because of high levels of water on the roads.

Opportunity of night of ''July 24'' is like a picnic once at a life time for certain people away from family and to some people nightmare. Lovely snap of ''RIM-ZIM'' with different colored Umbrellas. A four month''s period is also like a curse to some class of people who are living in shanty houses...God Bless them..
