Mangalore: Karate and Allied Arts Institute Confers Black Belt to 24 Karatekas

Mangalore, May 21: A ceremony to confer black belts to the successful Karatekas was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan here recently.

The event was organized by the city-based Karate and Allied Arts Institute.

Hanumant Rao, All India Budokon Karate Federation president, launched the website of Karate and Allied Arts Institute, on the occasion.

Speaking after conferring the black belts to the Karatekas, B Nagaraj Shetty, Coastal Development Authority chairman, said that Karate is not alone an art of self defence, but also enables one to maintain high level of mental and physical fitness.

Anand Devadiga, senior trainer of the institute, who also takes part in Karate Federation activities, handed over the sixth degree black belt to Balakrishna Alva.

Moodubelle Satish Kumar and Chetan D'Souza were conferred the third degree black belts while, the second degree black belts were conferred on Shruthi Kotian, Harshita Anchan, Ajit Kumar and Sachin and the first degree black belt to Gloria Nisha, Supriya, Chaitra, Swati Naik, Srujana Gowda, Suraksh, Sandeep Rai, Ashish Rao, Pradumna, Nitin, Harshit Acharya, Preetham, Sharat Kumar, Shivaji, Prashant Acharya, Salim Javed and Jaison D'Souza respectively.

Praveen Kumar, chief instructor welcomed the gathering. Prabhakar Kundar, senior Karate mentor and Suresh M Mangaldas were present on the occasion.
