Udupi, Aug 24: The entire region has been busy celebrating Sri Krishna Janmashtami and in the rural areas, 'Muddu Krishna' competitions are being held which add a special touch to the grand celebrations.

Muddu Krishna competitions were held in Kaup, Ucchila, Katpady, Shankarapura and in  Shirva, since Saturday, August 23, and saw huge audiences. Hundreds of children, regardless of caste and religion, participated in the competition held by Jaycees Club International (JCI) of Kaup, near here, on Sunday, August 24.

The rural neigbourhood was bustling with activities during the Muddu Krishna competition and also had a variety of cultural events themed on Sri Krishna. MLA Lalaji R Mendon, inaugurated the competition on Sunday morning.

Kaup Hosamarigudi temple managing trustee Ratnakar Shetty, JCI zonal officer Vijaykumar Kobeyoor, Kaup JCI president Jagdish Bangera, event sponsors Jagdish Acharya, and Manohar Rao, event organizers Prabhakar Shetty and Srinivas Aithal, as well as Kaup JCI secretary Rajendra B K, were present on the dais.

All participants of the competition savoured delicacies of Krishna Janmashtami, generously contributed by the Sri Krishna Math.
